KFC Wrapstar

now, i've never eaten a meat product from kfc, so i'm not going to comment. but what i will say is that during my late teens and early 20s a number of my friends worked in kfc, which meant that i was good for whatever their token vegetarian option was at the time, and all the fries, beans, coleslaw and corn-on-the-nob that i could eat. the amount of stuff we ripped off there was incredible. in my second year of uni our freezer had inductrial catering boxes of fries in it, dozens of frozen buns, all sorts of gak... our fridge had inductrial tubes of mayo and all that shit, but worst of all was the cheese. labelled as 'vegetarian cheese-flavoured food slices' it was impossible to eat enough of them before the catering-size pack ran out. and as it went wrong these food slices would go green first, as the dried out, and slowly curl over at the edges whilst fading to a translucent us colour. at this point they'd be skewered on something and defenestrated before they killed us all.

and having watched staff tear off best before stickers and put new ones on products until no-one could possibly know how long that coleslaw has been sitting there i'm kind of wary about take-aways these days!

oh, and we used to get BBQ sauces and throw them at local CCTV cameras. the ones we got direct hits on were invariably removed. i dunno what goes in that yummy stuff but fuck me it's bad for cameras!

It's hard to believe that so many people are so heavily influenced by product branding. I didn't really know what a Wrapstar was, so I watched this.

It's just two pieces of fucking chicken, some cheese, lettuce, etc, all in a wrap! To read this thread, you'd think that each one contained a lump of shit.

I now also recognize it as something that's been marketed here for well over a year, the Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme.

They're delicious.

Come on, stop being such sheep, and start making your own decisions.

The Zinger Tower must be the only thing keeping that place afloat
Ain't that the truth! The only nice thing in the whole store.

Well, I like the gravy, too.

Eh? The Zinger's just a chicken fillet burger with the same seasoning as the hot wings. You can get an optional rubbery hash brown to make it a tower burger, but it's hardly that different to the rest of the menu is it?

The chicken on the bone's still the best bit of KFC to me. Chicken burgers are always dry and tasteless to a certain extent, as much as I like the coating of the Zinger. Chicken breast is the most boring meat available, with the possible exception of turkey.

A hash brown in a burger is just, I dont know, overstodgifying it. Eat the hash brown seperately ;)

Have never tried the gravy either.....what do you put it on?

I think I have eaten a KFC once, perhaps twice in my life. Something about the place - the fat stodgey chips. The rank smell and pervading grease. Something grimey and grim about them. If I had to eat shit, then I would go for Burger King or McDonalds.

The smell puts me off going to McDonalds and Subway, but I can deal with the KFC aroma. I like the occasional KFC visit, but I'm a traditionalist, just good ol chick n chips, none of these fancy Zingers or whatever.

What are Nandos like - I've never been to one?

If you fancy proper Piri Piri chicken rather than Nando's blander version, get your arse down to The Gallery on Brixton Hill or the piri piri shop in Stockwell

Nando's ain't bad though, although 'healthy' may be pushing it...

i did say they "sort of feel" healthy, rather than actually being. i imagine the chicken all comes from 8 breasted super chickens that can't move.

chips? chicken? corn?? ffs use your imagination man

Chips I suppose you could dip (although when theres barbecue sauce....)
Chicken....doesnt sound right....might try it though
Corn......you are mad arent you. Corn n gravy? MMMMNOT :p

In American KFC's they don't do fries. Just mash or a "buiscut" type thing.

The gravy is for the mash, so I am not quite sure why they do it over here.

Stick that in your pipe and smoke it Gal! HA! Corn n gravy  pah!

I eat quite healthily these days but there are times when nothing but fried chicken will do
I don't see how the wrapstar can be *that* bad. I had a chicken wrap the other day from my local fried chicken emporium and it was delicious :)

Even the photos of the Wrapster look appalling
The photos normally look ten times better than the actual food!!

It's the weird mix in there that's the problem.

There is even bits of crips in it FFS

Yeah the crisps are a bit wrong but other than that its just like a wrap in a star shape. Actually the crisps are quite nice.

Cant imagine having mash and biscuits with it tho (crazy yanks)

Biscuits in the US are nothing like the biscuits in the UK - they're kinda like scones..

Ahem....tostada if you please!

Yeah - I haven't tried one but thought sticking tortilla chips in it looked weird.

Having said that, it doesn't look anything like as rank as the new McDonald's "Summer Barbecue" range - bleugh :(
