Kevin Smith

I asked him if he was sure he could leave the viewaskewniverse alone, as he was claiming - he was a little bit patronising and assured me he could. (after asking me "how did you get here? and me rather lamely saying "i flew" - complete with hands flapping in feeble bird impression... dead witty and cool me). Anyway, i felt dead smug when i heard about clerks 2. I was right. Man loves his viewaskewniverse.

If Lou can't make it, wanna come do that again? :D

He was on form at Comic-Con -

[mentions Twilight fangirls and gets booed by crowd]
Stop…stop, that’s the next generation of fans… How dare you pass judgment on those 12-year-old girls who like vampires! They need to be encouraged.... because in six years they’ll be 18-year-old girls who like vampires and are into all sorts of goth-permissive and whatnot. Don’t poo-poo it. There’s a plan, and it’s working.

:D

He of Chasing Amy, Mallrats etc fame.

I guess all haters here?

I love a couple of his films (Clerks, Chasing Amy), I like others (Mallrats, Dogma, Zack & Miri, Jay & Silent Bob) and I tolerate the mess that is "Clerks 2".
And "Reaper" is class.

It's a while since I saw Chasing Amy, but isn't it just 'lezzer turned to the straight and narrow by the power of beef?'

but smith has nowt to with reaper, so tis false to credit it to him. he was 'executive producer' on one episode, an episode he cameoed in. it was probably written into his contract. i doubt he had any creative input.
executive and associate producers are often meaningless credits.

I loved all the early movies, but he's stuck in a rut and "Kevin Smith World" isn't somewhere I'd like to live.

It's actually 'lezzer turned to the straight and narrow by the power of beef with the moral of the story spelled out by the director himself in a long monologue at the end of the film in case you don't get it'.

I like all of his films that i've seen....

Clerks 2 is DEFINITELY worth a watch, it's fucking funny.

He was also involved in writing/producing Good Will Hunting, which I think is fuckin excellent. Probably lots of petrol bombs with "Mat Damon" scrawled on them around here though.... :D

What's a Nubian?

Jon Peters:
1. I don't want to see him in that suit...
2. I don't want to see him fly... and
3. He has to fight a giant spider in the third act.

He's in Glasgow on Monday doing one of his talks, I'd love to go (so'd my 14 year old daughter, she's a massive fan) but I've no money just now. :(
