I don't have a compact cos I'd get annoyed with all the stuff it didn't do, and stamp on it or something.
So, good & bad. Bad first.
Bad was the weather & mud really. It took an hour to get in & up the hill & we missed Dizzee Rascal. In the end the site just about coped with a load of people on hand to push cars about, and by Sat they'd pulled their fingers out and put a load of hay down everywhere.
It was a bit expensive in there - they promised northern local prices but it was still £3 a can, but then I'm used to that down here. A couple of bands - Long Blondes & The Mystery Jets - dropped out. The main stage had pretty average acoustics I thought - the SFA just sounded like their CD, nothing amazing. Finally I guess it's everywhere now, but you can take your beer out, yet you can't bring it back in. Bit crap that.
The good? The Kaylied was ace, loads of little bands - highlights for me were the Weird String Band, John Byrne, T & La Touche, loads more I've lost the names of. The Cog was pretty good too. Worth the entry fee for that alone. Didn't spend much time in the dance tent but EMF were class, and they all still look about 25. Great atmosphere, no grief from anyone. Loads of food & shops and stuff, some of it good value. Oh & most of the toilets were clean, most of the time, which surprised me!
I guess that makes it sound a bit average, but it wasn't - it was a top weekend. It cost me a fortune, especially travelling up on the train, but it was worth it.
