Keegan: Not the brightest

Perhaps it's Barton's love of assaulting his team mates that's the issue here. I can't think of another footballer who routinely beats up his team mates - can you?

I'm saying that Barton HASN'T killed anyone, there is another player who has but doesn't suffer the moral outrage.

Erm, there were plenty of articles about Hughes and a fair few protestors iirc. But, if the idea of serving your time has any currency, he's got his second chance and seems to be contrite and working hard.

Barton's not shown the same willingness to learn, or seen his circumstances/contract change has he? Hence the reaction.

but I'm NOT wittering on about people having learnt. ALthough it would be nice to think that Barton will learn one day.

if you're going to get moralistic about players with prison sentences and convictions then there are others with more serious convictions who no-one is complaining about. and various owners...

That's not a sound argument.

You can't say that one person, who's a cunt, should be ignored because there's another person who's a bigger cunt just down the road.

I think the boy's a wrong'un and it's only a matter of time before he loses his rag again. Shouldn't be on a football pitch. However, that tackle there was brilliant. Fairplay to him for looking out for Nasri and helping him keep his balance and stay on his feet. :D

How do you know barton isn't trying to change? it's not that easy, is it?

i'm not saying his offences should be ignored, but there are others who have committed offences too, ordered the killing of hundreds and they can own clubs.

LOL. Worst defense evah! Come back when Barton starts ordering the genocide of his teammates.

FWIW Barton wouldn't pass the 'fit and proper' persons test of club ownership either.

Important points:

  1. He got the ball.
  2. Nasri is alive.
Gan on son.

It's fine and dandy with me. But, on the evidence of that alone, you can really see that he's a changed man indeed, not a snide shit acting provocator and trying to inflict a bit of extra pain. Oh no, not at all.

Nah, he's more like a panto villain. Think Bobby Davro in pantaloons.

And he deserves every boo he gets. We'll see if he's a big enough man to deal with it. I know where I'm putting my money....

so a one-off murder is better than a couple of beatings?

sorry but Hughes never murdered anyone, he killed someone through reckless driving, there is quite a difference between that and murder, namely one of intentions. Hughes fled the scene of the crash like a coward but handed himself in the next day.

Barton deliberately and actively assaulted a team mate and has previous formlike for example stubbing out cigars in young players eyes. He's a hateful cunt with a vicious streak not comparable to Hughes who as far as I know made a serious error of judgement that ended up having deadly consequences that he never intended.

John Hartson?

Olof Mellberg vs Freddie Ljungberg?

Kieron Dyer vs Ian Bowyer?

Handbags with a teammate in training happens surprisingly often, some times worse than others.

But sticking a lit cigar in a teammates eye? And then, in another incident, knocking out a colleague from behind (apparently), knocking him cold and them continuing to punch his prone body, taken to court as a result?

Used to happen every time Wimbledon played a game of football in the late 80s early 90s.

Keegan's gone, hopefully the next manager will see sense and throw Joey Barton to the lions. Though Dennis Wise is the front runner, I seem to rember he was convicted of biting a taxi drivers nose whilst he was a player.

also took a bottle to a teamate I do believe.

Dennis Wise is a cunt, but since he left Leeds they've been even shitter than usual so for that he's also a good man.

The funny thing is, that they went on the shitty slide when Poyet left

I do have time for Gus Poyet as a coach and future manager.

I heard that Barton could be on his way to Blackburn. More news at 11.

A very good man, Gus Poyet. I always liked him. Even though he played for dumb (Chelsea) and dumber (Spuds).
