katie Melua - Just Like Heaven

I thought it was Joss Stone that did the John Mayall song - Crawling Up a Hill? Or am I getting confused? Or have they both done John Mayall songs in which case he'll be doubly pleased ..
Nah, it's a Hank Wangford tune they've both covered... ;)

I prefer K T Tunstall meself

Shes a cutie but when she dolls herself up to try and look all popstar she looks like a puke skanky whore.

But I like janeane garofalo more than uma thurman so what do I know.

Saw KT at Glasto.. boring, but didn't look like a puke skanky whore. :)

Interestingly imagine my delight when I discovered my parents had a copy of Katie Melua's triple platinum award-winning "Call Off the Search " album

PUBLIC WARNING: DON'T GO THERE

The title track's okay - but apart from some of the cover versions its dire dire dire. ( :( )- Particularly some of the Mike Batt (ex-The Wombles) self-penned numbers.

Best off sticking to the singles.

:)

I dunno.. I think this is quite nice:

""There are six million people in the world
That makes me feel quite small
But you're the one I love most of all"

:) :)

katie melua went to the brits school - which is about two mins walk from my flat in selhurst. [/irrelevant facts]

my dad bought my mum both the katie melua and kt tunstall cds for xmas. Dad's 69 and mum's 60. I think it's nice music for retired folk, but kt tunstall is no more rock chick than i am.

What a fantastic song to lie in bed listening to..
Dire MOR, airbrushed, car-friendly, pre-packaged, easy-listening, focus group marketed yuppie shite for supermarket shoppers..

comparitively speaking, she's quite good. would you rather katie melua or another aguilera?? or pussycat dolls??

the bicycles tune is ok :)

None of them.

I don't like airbrushed, corporate-friendly, dinner-party rock.

Exactly, Melua is as non-threatening as one can get...well, there's also Jamie Cullum...what a nice boy! :D

Big can of worms, this is. Someone asked me yesterday about a Hendrix tune I was playing and was it a version of the Cullum song. Was it fuck. All these cover-kiddies are churning out blander shite but selling more records than is humanly possible. Does this mean middle England has grown so much that Cullum, Melua, Tunstall and even the Nislopi shite is acceptable fare? If so then welcome to the smug millennium where it's better to be 'nice' than to question all the bad things in the world.

Apologies, that's my second rant of the day. Boy that feels good.
