I don't know for sure, but it seems to me that they may have worked out that straightforward spam just gets deleted, so maybe they just post up a discussion about something involving their establishment, in this case their 'Kumara' chips, or as in the other case I'm thinking of way back, that 'Jamie Oliver might be setting up opposite'.

It smacks of desperation, if that's so.

Why are you addressing that to me? Wasn't me who outed you and your mate as a colluding pair of spammers advertising your favoured food place!

Spread your insults around a bit more and you'll have a LONG LIST of targets from this thread alone ...

If I want to ask an innocent question about something as mundane as a bowl of chips, then I will do so. If I want to point out that you are an illiberal idiot then I will do so. You don't like someone else's opinion - tough luck. It is generally considered grown-up behaviour to sometimes agree to differ without resorting to name calling.

this one is motivated by annoyance.

Well you did use the 'political correctness' phrase, which 90% of the time it is used (generous figure) reveals something quite telling about a person's outlook ... and you're compounding the impression by using the 'self righteous' phrase -- another cliche ...

I get 'self righteous' (very often the favoured 'apolitcal', or even right wing, term for being principled and angry :rolleyes: ) about 'political correctness' stories and their recyclers/believers, because so many of said stories are just that -- stories. Made up. Not true. It's a bugbear of mine I admit.

As for the 'advertising' I admit I trusted ianw and hendo, thought they were more certain it was viral marketing than they actually were. If you and the other bloke weren't advertising after all, then I apologise -- to you and to him.

Ianw has already explained why it was such a plausible theory though. Far more plausible on the surface than three quarters of these 'political correctness' stories anyhow ...

But due apologies if I got you wrong this time.

struggling to recall where i have used the phrase political correctness on this board (or any board for that matter!)

or why using the phrase 'self righteous' makes me right wing? have we met? do you know my politics?

my moan was purely about being accused of advertising for saying i liked some chips. where the rest of it came from i'm a bit confused?

i accept you apology for that, 'this time'. the implication clearly being i am going to out myself as littlejohn clone who is going to bombard this board with stealth advertising at some point in the future.
