K850i won't turn on

SEUS doesn't help as I can't seem to find how to re-install the firmware - it just says that the software is uptodate

SEUS doesn't do anything, it says software up to date and that's it - no option to reinstall anything

i have problems with my k850i too
the touch sensitive strip is not working no more.
i can't use it at all.
as i can't even go into the main menu without pressing those annoying touch buttons.

Well there was an option with it to just reinstall the (even though it said mine was up-to-date) latest software anyway, and that seemed overwrite what was on there and solved the exact same problem that you're having now

Did you actually try to download it and do it via cable?

MY 850i did exactly the same thing and just kept shutting itself off. I immediately thought it was the battery dumping. But its did it on charge. So I rung orange and they replaced it with a...er ...I dunno what it is... its another sony ericson cybershot thing. But it works

oooo moaned at orange and they're sending me a new one free of charge and I've been told Sony have reported that they have sorted out the software faults on this one
