K1000 SLR Film Camera - where from?

Has someone already recommended 7dayshop.com? Best place in the UK to get film - really cheap and vat free.

As for the K1000, I picked one up off ebay last year for £50, in full working order, spotless 50mm lens, lightmeter accurate etc. Don't be too afraid to buy from ebay, even expensive items like cameras. I recently got my hassy from there too, and that was way more than the Pentax lol.

If you are going to buy from ebay in the future, just make sure they regularly sell cameras and have flawless feedback. Might want to check their refund policy as well.

Have they sorted-out their online-sale security yet? I think there was a thread here about it some time back & their indifference seemed worrying.

good job i saw this thread, i start my photography hnc in a week (mature student...yay), and the tutor recommended the K1000.

i've inherited a pentax p30t a while back, but it's seen better days.

I'm old enough that when I did an "O" level in Graphic Art the school provided Praktica MTL3s because K1000s were two and a half times the price! :D

Good camera, good "A" series lenses.

Thanks to the full-on 80s styling, they are a bit of a "marmite" (love or hate) camera but as a tool for learning the basics of potography, the P30 is quite excellent IME.

My first SLR camera was a Cosina CT1a, fully manual but served me well for 40 quid. (Sometimes wish I hadn't got rid of it now).

It handled well and took Pentax lenses. Secondhand ones might still be available.
