Just bought our Shambala tickets!!

I just looked at the website. Why is it when any event mentions that they have spoken word on I want to grab a sharp knife and go for them? I like a lot of poetry so why the crazy antipathy towards spoken word?

Spoken word has me thinking of people pretending to be trees whilst talking in a poor impression of a deity of some kind.

Poetry is cool however.

Bollox! I bet you'd enjoy it if you had a free ticket!

i honestly don't think i would. too many people i've met who love it fall into a particularly smug, wanky, self-satisfied mindset that really boils my piss. doesn't mean that it applies to the people on here, and doesnt' mean that everyone there will be like that.

Shambala has alwasy sounded like my idea of a living hell :D

you don't know what you're missing :p

went in 2003, headcharge did the techno tent, 2 live stages, more alcohol and drugs than even you could consume and small enough to be able to find your tent when your legs no longer work

don't get why people are slagging it off as a hippy festival  yeah there were people doing yoga and throwing flaming objects around, but they do that at glasto and no one slags that off

Exactly!!!

It's far less hippy, and far less COMMERCIAL than Glastonbury.

So why is it getting so much stick? Just cos its' name sounds a bit hippyish?

What about all the really straight people who go to Glastonbury? The people who go and watch Coldplay....do they make your piss boil too Dub? But you still go there....

it's a lot of money, no, compared with what you get for your money at Endorse it, say. I don't like the way they operate - the kids camp is an extreme but not isolated example of that. And no, people going to see Coldplay DON'T boil my piss, because generally they're not smug hippy twats (see previous caveats in that regard).

oh yeah - and it means getting *owned* which means you're getting your arse kicked in an argument about a festival for example.

Hippies wouldn't say it.

But there are smug hippy twats at Glastonbury. Loads of them. Far more than there are at Shambala! :D

wanna bet? :D

well you don't and that's my point. glasto is chock-full of "smug hippies" but it's ok to like that but not shambala

edit: han already said that, but never mind!

I dunno, half the fun at glasto (as indeed, at ANY festival) is pointing and laughing at the hippies :D

no, you don't slag off glasto for being a hippy festival, you slag off the hippies when you're there :p

you could have just as much fun doing this at shambala, you know :D
