Just bought our Shambala tickets!!

i would vouch for the site, mind - i spent the eclipse there and although it was fucking treacherous because of the storms, it was very nice..

The kids' camp was a lash up - but it was a kids' camp and from where I was sitting they seemed to be having a great time...

Different site in a different part of the country this year.

I like Shambala: they paid us well and said we added 'a touch of class' to their otherwise hippy infested festival ;) :D

oh god, i've just thought that through. imagine if, everywhere you went, there were hippies just watching you. you could never quite escape them. it'd be the prisoner but with more sandals :(

Me and Rocketman went to Shambala in 2005 and loved it. It's small but perfectly formed

I am a bit of a hippy, but i didn't think it was *that* hippy tbh, although i did learn to belly dance at one of the workshops :o

One of the tents had roots on the sunday and DJ Derek had everyone jumping  The music wasn't that hippy at all. IIRC Ska Cubano headlined on one of the nights...

Anyway Dub. Ask big Al what he thought about it. We bumped into him there and he seemed to be having a good time :)

I think he had a good time in spite - he was fairly sarcastic about it.

Don't recall any of the hippy festival band stalwarts being there actually :p :D

Are the Bees a hippy band

It was loads less hippy than Beautiful Days.

They had a gabba dancing competition ffs, and there was laughing gas and tekno soundsystems etc...

Shambala's like the random and chaotic lovechild of Unsound and the Big Green Gathering. Which is why I like it. The hippy bit was there but not overpowering. It had all the best bits of the BGG (eg. campaign stuff and fluffiness) without the in yer face crystals and laughter workshops everywhere.

I was trying to work out why I like it because the in your face hippy stuff annoys me as well. You hit the nail on the head there.

Sounds like the sort of thing I would love...

I agree with Han too. Reminded me of a smaller Big Chill and the hippy stuff was all in the permaculture garden area, which i didn't really go in to.

nah, still sounds horrible, and i bet Tarantism sneak in under the fence or something :D

Bollox! I bet you'd enjoy it if you had a free ticket!

Shambala used to have something to do with the Jibbering Records lot in Brum. Anyone know if it still does?
