July or August Craft Club: Knit and Dip?

How about a craft club meetup at Brockwell Lido for some poolside knitting? Or are we going to do scones and clotted cream next? Or could we combine the two somehow? If not July we could always make it August's craft club.

It'd have to be a weekend I think because the pool shuts at 8pm on weekdays. One snag of course is that it does mean people have to pay to get in, and non-swimmers might not fancy it. Also, how would they be about us bringing our own food?

PS where is this mythical wool shop in Herne Hill that's allegedly opened, and weren't we going to visit that too?

Edit - it'd have to be August probably in fact as next weekend is the Lambeth Country Show and the following weekend is the Crystal Palace Bowl Festival.

Best. Idea. Ever! :D

Although I'll be away for August in Japan sadly (but very happily too!).

The yarn/craft shop is a few doors up from Brockwell Vets towards the , next to that arty painting/framing shop - but is only open Thursday to Sat at the mo. I've not managed to visit it yet bu it looks like it could be interesting - I do wonder how they manage the rent etc though on so few hours and probably very few visits a week?

(ETA - in the past, it has been common practice to take picnics - the catering is still by the same people and they're cool, so I think you'd be fine tbh - as long as there's no booze - and I wouldn't take any glass bottles for obvious reasons.)

What happened to the scones? Scones, I say.. scones *runs off cause she can't knit*

I might come to the pool though

I don't know what happened to the scones, Ms T claimed she was going to start a thread, and then didn't.

I went to the new wool shop yesterday. I slightly embarrassingly wandered into their opening party. They didn't have a lot, just some Rowan and some Debbie Bliss, some hand-knitted baby clothes and some arty glass bits.

What's Brixton Splash?

Sorry - am in Brussels for work at the moment, and don't have many weekends free in the next few weeks. Will get onto it soon though. :)

Hey - I'm doing my dissertation, working like a stupid person and don't have much free time lately... so I'm secretly glad the scones have slipped back. Enjoy Brussels, Ms T :)

Very unlikely i'll be swimming, however, let me know a date and i'll try come along for a paddle and a knit. I'm away for the last week in august though.

Saw Ms T yesterday and she suggested that we set a date, and if the weather's fine we can go to the Lido, if not do scones at her place. Which sounds like a good plan, although I think there was only one date in August which she could do. I think I'm pretty free for weekends in August.

can i come to the craft club

i need to make more friends...im not sure im any good at crafts but i'll have a go....

thanks
Melissa

I may be at Notting Hill Carnival that day - I like to go Sundays rather than Mondays. Or I may still be in dissertation finishing hell (it's due 31st) so would probably be able to slip away from the studies for a bit that day. Might play it by ear... Sorry - I demanded a date and now am vacillating... how annoying of me. :p

Ah, bank holiday... is that Monday an option? (27th)

Oooh - Bank Holidays don't really exist in my world, so I tend to forget about them. But yes, Monday works for me. :)

Also, I am now not free on Aug 11th as I am playing on a pedal-powered stage at the I Love Peckham Festival.

Just realised no-one has said to indigo4 "yes of course you can come"!

Oh yes, forgot about this. We seemed to be settling on Bank Holiday Monday, unless anyone came up with a good reason why not.

Or we could leave it till September so gg can come.

Aw - that's really kind of you.. or you could all fly out to Japan and could hae a nitto and dippu in the pacific instead!! And make senbei (rice crackers)!

Don't wait for me though, I'll be starting my new job 2 days after I get back and I have a feeling that will be the end of any socialising for a while.. :(
