It's 10 times less boring than 90% of jobs, maybe? Getting to meet famous people? Getting to meet the general public and quiz them about stuff? Getting to research things and investigate? Getting to write? Having people read your writing? Getting to research things you are interested in? Getting to find out juicy gossip even if it isn't publishable?

Is this most peoples experience of journalism. Is the idea of acting being in a big hollywood film? You didn't get it the first time.
