Jose Gonzalez

Exactly.

I'd honestly not really heard of him and liked what I heard this morning, but I've obviously unwittingly commited some heinous musical crime according to Iam.
What's to be my sentance Iam?

:D

Whatever you choose, I really don't care. I'm sure my opinion won't actually affect your ability to enjoy dear old Jose one little iota, but don't let that stop you playin' the wounded solider, eh?

:p

If you ask for opinions...

Jack Johnson, Rufus Wainwright, etc, etc.
Rufus Wainwright in the same bracket as Jack Johnson?!

Well, they're both warm blooded mammals I suppose. That's about as much as they've got in common though.

I reckon you're pretty fickle and only either like things that are universally accepted as good/cool (i.e. they've been around for long enough for it not to be in dispute) or the latest random 'street'/dance subgenre that you think you're the first and only person to know about. yawn.

Anything that isn't in any way macho/got a bassline you laugh about with your spotty mates because you don't have the intelligence to understand it.

don't worry, you'll get older and your tastes will grow, and eventually you'll like what YOU like, even if it does happen to be a Swedish bearded indie/folk singer/songwriter.

Come chat to me then. ;)

I quite liked that. The trouble is, I keep downloading all these albums and I get bored after about three songs.

Ok, so apparently, the opinions of others do affect some peoples' ability to enjoy stuff.

 :D

pretty much yeah. me not really understanding what you're going on about, that whoosh was it going over my head..

Ok, well I was just messing about.

Really, there's no reason why anyone should care what I think about something. Enjoy what you like, innit.

:)

I wasn't messing about about that, obviously.

I really dont understand people that tar music as 'shit'.. like those every-so-slightly idiotic/simplistic shit/not shit polls on here.

If I dont like something, even really dont like something I normally say it's 'not my thing'. If it is particularly bad imo I might say it, but not as a matter of course. I think there's good in most genres and I accept that I may well be 'missing' something in the stuff I don't like.

You'd think some people who want to be so reactionary are actually looking for a reaction!?

you don't like Jose? who cares. Not me particularly. I'm not his mother or his agent.

have the utmost respect for the man since I saw him cover kylie's hand on your heart on jools holland:

at the time it had me speechless and close to a tear.

watch it all the way though and say he's shite. I double dare you.

i managed 1 minute and 9 seconds of it, although it didn't take me all of that time to conclude that he had sucked all the life out of a perfectly good pop song.

I could give a fuck what you think, quite frankly.

you could? well I'm glad. :D

8 posts and counting!!

indeed. I'm posting on a thread about Jose Gonzalez and I like some of his stuff. why are you here? because everyone just has to know that you think 'He's shite' - wow, such insight - give that boy a job in music journalism!

I look forward to either of you muppets vocalising a positive opinion about any band or artist in the near future.

good night and thank you... I've been your better taste in music... :p

Pfft,

you can't have been my better taste in music - if so you wouldn't have been praising Jose Gonzalez.

Well, the new album is shite.

Veneer is superb, nice and dark rhythmic. The new one is, well, shite.

That sucks.

Still no-one recommends some decent, dark, rthymic acoustic stuff. Please?

cold!!!! decent, dark acousticy anyway. Although nothing like mr gonzalez at all in any way shape or form.

Oh and chris cornells first solo album.

Jose gonzalez i cant decide about sometimes i find it quite chilled and beautiful other times i get bored and start removing my fingernails.

dave

Got Chris Cornell's album... I like it, but it's not the same as the sparcity of Veneer.

Cold isn't accoustic? At least not the 13 ways to bleed on stage Cold?

Amen to that! Too many people do choose their music on what you describe. However the bloke in question, his rendition of Love will Tear us apart is really meh

Also, that heartbeats song he covers, is it a cover of The Knife's song heartbeats? Or are they both covers of another song?

I like this housey version btw:cool:

I see.

Too many people think that The knife covered him. Partly due to his version being in that ad. Is this guy just a cover singer then or what:confused:

i think he's good.

it surprised me to see him come out on peacefrog - a techno label more famous for people like luke slater, neil landstrumm, rob hood, dan curtin, stasis, bola

can anyone explain this?
