John Wayne..Is he the least worthy oscar winner?

John Wayne is the most known international face of Hollywood movies, although has been pipped, some years, by Clint Eastwood. There has never been no greater, more notable and charismatic Hollywood actor. He has starred in some of the greatest films of all time: Red River, Searchers, True Grit, Shootist, Yellow Ribbon, Conqueror, Rio Lobo, Liberty Valence, El Dorado, War Wagon. The list is virtually endless. IMO his defining moment was a s Tom Donovan in the Man who Shot Liberty Valance, but that is my own opinion.

But although he did deserve his Oscar for his role as Rooster Cogburn in Hathaway's classic True Grit, it was a disgrace and an insult that this was his only one.

John Wayne was a right wing, war mongering, draft dodger!
He wasn't a draft dodger. He just thought that his services over in the US, starring in badly made propagandist films directed by Howard Hughes, was more important than going out and risking his life.
