John Lydon - 'not proud' of the Sex Pistols

If I was a punk then it would only seem natural to dismiss it once it became popular and commercial .

I remember seeing a TV show with him in the eighties (I got it on vhs somewhere) where he spoke about how good the Pistols were, but also his disgust at the whole bad boys of rock thing and being turned into The Rolling Stones. Also, he was fairly vocal bout McLaren using a 'failed bank robber' to be oh so shocking . I think he said something like 'That could have been my father driving that train'. He came across as very sincere, but I think he always does. He seems to have a brutal honesty and he is honest about himself as well.
