Jimmy Carr

He's a joke thief - not popular with other comics.
He mocked me at a pub quiz once, so I don't like him. :)
Apparently (to answer the OP), his daddy was a nasty violent alky, so does that make it alright then?

The first time I saw him (on a mostly rubbish TV tribute to Peter Cook IIRC), I thought he was hilarious. Unfortunately, he really hasn't lived up to that early promise, appearing on any old shit Channel 4 chuck his way and steering his material into areas that are even too misanthropic for me.

He died a fucking death when he was paid to host my company's annual awards shindig earlier this year, too. Now, that did make me laugh... :D

Aha - I thought it might be something like that. He's just got a certain sense of something twisted inside him, more so than a lot of other comics imo.

Never found Bernard Manning funny, don't see why this look-at-me-I'm-telling-racist-jokes-aren't-I-cutting-edge little posh boy expects to be any different

He's just Roy Chubby Brown with a Groucho memebership

I don't think he's particularly twisted, he's just your typical insecure rude little twat. I know people like him. They're not very 'cutting edge', just insensitive and they think their humour puts them above criticism because they're just being so 'daring'. There's a 15 year old Jimmy Carr in every classroom right now. Most of them grow out of it.

My brother is at uni with Jimmy Carr's younger brother and apparently their dad used to do "some fucked up shit" to Jimmy... I will ask my bro for more details as that's pretty vague...

I'd rather be subjected to the hellfires of eternal damnation than have to spend my valuable consciousness watching that vacuous sour-faced excuse for a clot of jism attempt to be "funny".

Jimmy Carr isn't a comedian, he's an animated conglomeration of vitriolic invective.
I'm afraid I take a dimmer view of Mr Carr than you seem to do

I think he's all right. He's obviously playing a character, I'm sure he's quite ordinary in real life.

it's also a Tim Vine gag.

Ah, because Tim Vine's material is always fresh as a daisy. :D

Probably borrowed from several before it got to him.

Jimmy Carr is odious, and thats the idea. He can be quite funny with good material, but too much and it becomes quickly tedious.

It's OK, I got the smug git

I'd do him.
Ooh, I wonder what he's like in bed...
Useless, reasonable, or tries quite hard...?

he did a show on R4, talking about his favourite clips, and his taste was impeccable. he came across as nice but pretty insecure.

this was before I saw any of his stand-up. I remember something he said about not being especially likeable in his stage act, or indeed in his life, which sounded quite sad...

my sister went to see him and was very offended by a particular joke 'I mean, no-one puts cigarettes out on well-behaved children, do they?' I don't know if that 'joke' offends me, but I certainly don't find it funny...

edit- (I once worked with a very nice, but traumatised kid whose parent/s did put out cigarettes on him...)

I find that mildly funny.

That's how he comes across to me on his own XFM show. Perfectly harmless and affable.
