Jews Invade Saudi Arabia!!!

I hate to be nit-picky, but there was a shedload of regionalism involved in Italian fascism too, as well as a fair bit of North/South chauvinism.

I'm sorry that you hate to be it, but I think you are being nit-picky. The British experience is also riddled with regionalism but no-one, surely, would describe that as fascist, never mind racist.

There is a qualitative difference between fascism and what you describe.

I'm sorry that you hate to be it...
Don't be sorry.
...but I think you are being nit-picky.
As I'd already admitted.

I'm not describing regionalism as "fascist", I'm presenting the point that historians, for example Prof Alexander Le Grand in his "Italian Fascism: It's Origin and Development", have commented that Italian Fascism was riddled with regionalism and North/South antipathy, that "Italian" fascism and "Italian" fascists were not "for Italy" as much as they were for their home region and only then for their homeland. Mussolini was still having problems with the tensions regionalism caused right into the 1940s.

Thanks for that. :)

Nino: Orwell wrote essays but of course, at your level of schooling, I do not expect that you would even be aware yet. I will not quote verbatim (because I would have to dig the essay out) but his words were along the lines that everone he knows , in every lot of life, is claiming to be a fascist so that the word means nothing. Just another label we throw upon ourselves in a sad attamept to give our lives meaning. He talks about how his butcher is a fasc, etc. The point being, fascism can be many things to many people and as evidenced by this thread, it is.

My concern with the label is as a barebones form of ultra nationalism and in those parameters am quite proud to have the label attached to me. Make of that what you will.

Cocinelle: That it is said to have originated in Babylon is nothing but a myth. I would suggest that it takes adherents a good 2 decades to get through the frist gate so I do not see how you and a Wiki entry would be able to gain insight into it (no offence). Again: Only married men over the age of 40 with at least one son over the age of 13 can even begin to study the discipline....and even then must have mastered to the punctuation mark the entire 27 Books of Tanach, and some add that they need to have also mastered every part of Mishnah and G'merah.

That is why I took the time to explain about the cult centered around the word as opposed to the actual mystical discipline. To suggest that it was copped from anything Babylonian is sort os bizarre given the distinct lack of archaelogical cpnnection to ancient Babylonian Culture, etc.

The Palestinians have adopted the word "fascism" for their own ends! It's time to claim the word back from those dirty Arab scum!

FASCIST AND PROUD!

I think my level of "schooling" is far in excess of your paltry mail-order 'degree', sunshine. How about you actually cite the source of your latest gag instead of expecting me to believe any auld shite that comes from your fetid mind?

This paragraph doesn't make any sense. Care to have another stab (unfortunate word in your case) at it?

Nino: "Mail order schooling.": Oh is it Pissing Contest time again? I will trump you with one Technichon to two of your ....Actually my degree is from Ithaca so you might as well say mailorder for all its worth but then NYU did not offer degrees in Ethno-Botany at the time. I have attended 4 universities Nino, including Officer's College. You?

"Auld," Scottish now? Aye laddie, break out the Rob Roy and sing auld lang syne again as we remember our kilted brothers marching to bagpipes...wait! That was the movie I watched yesterday. Listen Braveheart, I could not care less one way or another but if you are going to engage in character asassination, know what you are doing first, ok?

As for my paragraph not making sense, I reread it again and see nothing at all wrong with it. Must be the bagpipes in your ears matey. See ya Nessie!

You're beginning to sound like a couple of perma-banned posters. FYI, the word "auld" is also used in Liverpool but a tiny wee mind like yours is incapable of comprehending anything other than the voices in your head..heid.

Listen, arsewipe, you're not even fit to kiss my arse.

Frog: Arabs and fascism have a long history. Surely you are well aware of the Lebanese Phalangist movement?

Nino: You are making me cry....cry with happiness. I am moved to tears to be compared to teeeny weeny's baby buns. You have done me a grand thing little one. So shiny and soft. As for Liverpool, how the hell would I EVER know that since I have only been to your country twice and am now persona non grata there?

You know what they say about that word "Assume," righT?

More incomprehensible crap from the winner of the Urban Liar of the Year award for 2008. :D

Thank you, thank you . I would first like to thank Nino and the Academy for giving me this award. More so I would like to thank his care giver who helped him type the post notifying me of this award and finally, I would just like to say that Nino make it all worth it in the end. Thanks again...

I have to reply to this again: your comments about my use of the word "auld" sound exactly like the sort of thing dwyer would say. Are you two sharing a [diseased] brain now?

"Bagpipes in my ears"? What kind of stupid comment is that? It's not even a decent comeback. I know 10 year olds who could come up with better.

Nino: I am Phil, and Phil is I. I have 17 personalities and before you think of doing a Garfield and complaining to mgt., with respect to my disability they allow me to register each personality and are helping me with their emotional support as I undergo batteries of psychoanalysis since the lobotomy has not been worth a farthing. But it warms my heart laddie to see you so concerned. You know, people say youngsters today do not respect their elders, do not care for their fellow man, but with you we can all see, all 17 of us, that you are going against the grain of that sad condemnation. Keep up the good work and practice those bagpipes Braveheart.

"10 years olds who could do better.": I also have one personality that is 3 years old, his name is Nino...so go easy on me OK shining star?

You lot do understand that if you keep on posting nothing else but personal digs, either you'll have to go or this sub-forum will?

It's your choice, really.

TBH the number of 'real' posters who bother with these can be counted on the fingers of one foot. Can't be arsed with the circle-jerk any longer tbh.

Or, you mean, "Real posters who you agree with." In reality, if you bother to take a look at the number of posts versus the number of views you will find that there is about a 4:1 ratio of people not participating but finding value in the subject matter (or, sadly, merely entertainment given the vile atmosphere). Perhaps if a bit of moderation (fairly) was exercised the atmosphere would change and those viewing might also participate. The forum has its worth in that it provides a means to learn. That some, like yourself (and that is not meant as an insult but a fact given your last post as just further evidence), see it only as a plce to engage in nitpicking does not change the fact that others might hold to a different viewpoint.

Any political forum will have its share of malcontents and people who either have unstable personalities or fringe outlooks. However, with moderation they can be successful. Moderation has to be uniform and consistent to work. The problem on this site is that the mods are given responsibility for ALL forums and thus cannot be blamed for ignoring one or another forum. Some sites employ forum moderators and seem to have a greater chance at success.

Just my 2 Shekels.

The forum has its worth in that it provides a means to learn.

I've certainly learned more from this forum than from any other, and I've actually adjusted some of my previous opinions because of that--which rarely happens as a result of internet discussion.

Here here. Exactly my point. It does seem that Fridge has taken up the good fight. She has posted in another thread that she will be consistently moderating here and will offer incremental suspensions culminating in the boot for those that violate the insult maxim and chasing to other threads maxim and I say about time. Thank you Fridge, and you Editor if you had any say in it.

I believe that Fridge is of the male persuasion, but other than that I entirely agree. To be specific, I have found my understanding of and sympathy for Israel's cause to be significantly enhanced by reading your own knowledgeable and well-reasoned arguments over the last few weeks.

Aaaaaah, guilty as charged. I made the terrible mistake of assuming one's gender merely by their screename. Fridge, if you read this, please forgive m in advance.

Phil, thank you for those kind words.
