Jesus Fuck! The Scariest Song Ever

sometimes reno, you can be just a tad pofaced and just a little (gulp) self-regarding.

"Yes, absolutely" to the first charge, "no more than you" to the second one. :)

Yes (and happily so) to the first charge, no more than you to the second one. :)

I don't think I'm particularly self-regarding, but shall we agree to disagree on that?

Apologies for being SO very gauche that I foolishly tried to alert people to a remarkable tune we should all have heard many years ago, it was a dreadful faux pas and I promise never to do it again

well, it makes a kind of whooshing sound ;)

and anyone, reno will be along to tell us that all noise is musical if you FULLY appreciate the tenets of musique concrete. Don't you know ANYTHING, eggboy? ;)

Laying on the sarcasm a bit thick there. ;)

Seriously though, if you enjoyed this then you should really consider getting into the likes of Alan Lomax and Harry Smith. Their compilations are treasure troves of some of the amazing music you will ever hear:

ah, so you didn't even read my earlier post then reno? Where I explained that I had Smith and Lomax boxed sets and more besides?

that's not very thorough, is it?

yeah they're great....

whiel we're in this neck of the woods, i recently got a copy of Hazel Dickens & Alice Gerrard - pioneering women of bluegrass - is a real treat

It is excellent.

I just slipped my earphones on so I could have a listen in my office, and while I was listening I was oblivious to the fact that someone had come in and was stood beside me calling my name.

When she touched me on the shoulder I nearly shit myself!

fuck me, there's actually a film about them

I just listened to this: there's nothing scary about that.

You should watch this movie they're promoting; might be a different take on the South, something to compare the Wrong Eyed Jesus with.

I didn't say the youtube clip was scary.

You do seem determined to spend each evening tracking down any threads I've posted on or started and then making sure you misquote / misunderstand me in order to disagree with me

No, you don't fly that high on my radar; but having said that, you often take a position and defend it well and intelligently. That being the case, and considering what a discussion board is there for, I might look for opportunities to discuss or debate with you, as it can be enjoyable, and usually civil.

Is nice. Tense and a bit disturbing.

Personally I find Atrax Morgue and stuff like that scary. But I am a wimp when it comes to things like that :)

It's like gabba gospel. Like being mown down by a stampeding herd of elderly Christian nutjobs bellowing at the top of their crazy voices.

just downloaded and listened to it - fuck it is like this
bit's of it sound ok/ actuall quite beautiful in places then it goes back to feeling like you're about to be trampled to death completely unnoticed in their desperate march to heaven.

if you ever hear him sing that live, you wont hear a pin drop...its eerie.

god, that's intense

this is strangely terrifying - Arcade Fire doing an ultra doomy version of Guns of Brixton, sounding a dour fire and brimstone preacher telling everybody listening that we're all about to die, and going to Hell & there's no hope for any of us

finally got round to listening to this the other day, and it isn't exactly scary. very beautiful, mind, but i was expecting something like 'halber mench'. which is probably the scariest song in the world...
