JESUS FESTERING CHRIST: Greatest Reunion EVER!!!

Here's what I've heard by The Rockingbirds:

  • That "I think I'm gradually learning" one that was a minor hit. Pleasantly pantsish.
  • Maybe Johnathan, Johnathan. In fact, yes, definitely: Johnathan Johnathan. I can even remember how it starts. It starts: "Johnathan!" And then maybe again: "Johnathan!" Again, like that. I think. Included on an NME EP or something? Think it might have been. So yes, that one as well.
And that's it.

So I'm mystified as to why I should care.

er, they were alright. i can think of better bands in the same ilk. Preferred the Hankdogs meself. I got quite excited about MBV reforming earlier this year.

It's gonna be one of those days Jefe :(

I just saw the name edwyn collins and assumed it would be in a half empty pub in london somewhere:p

It was weird seeing Collins. I knew all about his near death and his illness, but seeing him live - sat down, right side of his body pretty much immobile, not able to play guitar was quite sad. His voice sounded OK, but he really is in quite a bad way

It's a sad story, I don't think he should be doing gigs what with him being terminally ill cos that will overshadow anything else about his performances, but thats not for me to say really (avoid dying on stage joke)

Just reading up about him on t'internet, very sad story

I still stand by my assertion of his illness overshadowing any of his songs.

to be honest I just remembered him doing a couple of shit songs and then i remembered the news saying that he was dying, i was too young for 'orange juice' but I bet they are on my hard drive somewhere.....

That's toss, though. I'm no Collins fan - didn't even stay for the end of the gig - but he had a long and very successful career before he got ill and a very loyal fanbase who would turn out to see him illness or not.

I wasn't saying that he is only well known for being ill, just that his illness has overshadowed his career

I'm not sure thats true, Orange Juice are a band that certain people just adore and are very passionate about.
That doesn't seem to have dimmed much with time and I don't think his illness makes any difference at all to it.
although seeing him do 'Rip It Up' with the refrain
"I hope to God I'm not as bad as you make out, I hope to God"
was quite hard to take.

The Rockingbirds were great by the way.
