Jeffrey Lewis - Brixton

posted this in brixton cos I didn't know this thread was here:

was a good gig. I didn't know any of the stuff he played cos I only have The Last Time I Did Acid... but it was all fine stuff. Particularly loved the one about meeting Will Oldham on the train - and the history of punk lecture.

spotted you behind the desk dub but didn't get a chance to say hi.

shame, i knew you were out there somewhere :)

and what about Misty's Big Adventure? fucking phenomenal. Sesame Street show tunes by acid casualties! :)

(and yes, i DID end up dancing to my own records again.. i'm just doomed to never be cool :( )

and cheers to twisted for about 25 reggae promo album cds :D

Didn't really go for mistys big adventure. They had some skill but I didn't like the 'look at me I'm crazee' attitude.

ah, like the editor will tell you (after dissing chumbawamba and the cardiacs ;) ) - apparently i'm a sucker for wacky :D

ah misty's
:)
i don;t think that's an act with Grandmaster Gareth. Anyway I love em. Gareth is producing Jeffrey Lewis's new album...probably accounts for the lateness as GG is a little crazeee

I really liked misty's big adventure live, but unfortunately the single i bought sounds like "they might be giants". Jeffrey Lewis was ace! Yes, the Will Oldham song was superb. I even liked the ones his brother played on. I discovered on the way home that transporting a "casualty" from Brixton to Hackney via night buses is v difficult.

I think Jack Lewis (Jeff's brother) is back in a few weeks and will be doing a set at the Windmill and maybe other places in London.

Also possibility of JEFFREY LEWIS playing somewhere in London (dunno where) on Sept 24th (i think that's the date but aren't sure but keep an eye on Jeff's website in the coming days).
