JD Vance's time is up

J D Vance in Rome with his family. They attended Good Friday prayers at St Peter’s Basilica yesterday. This morning he is meeting with the Vatican No 2 official.

He’s had a run in with Pope Francis over immigration. I bet he’d love a meeting with the Pope. I hope the Pope doesn’t grant it.

Vance joined some extreme Catholic group in 2019 and claims it supports the US policy on immigration. Pope Francis rebuked him over it.

See above. He did.

Reports say Vance met with a Senior Cardinal. Not with the Pope.

US Vice President JD Vance met with senior Vatican officials amid sharp differences over the White House's crackdown on migrants, with the Holy See reaffirming good relations but noting “an exchange of opinions” over the issue and current international conflicts.

According to a statement by the Vatican, Vance, a Catholic convert, met with the secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and the foreign minister, Archbishop Paul Gallagher.

"There was an exchange of opinions on the international situation, especially regarding countries affected by war, political tensions, and difficult humanitarian situations, with particular attention to migrants, refugees, and prisoners," the statement said.

It was not mentioned if Vance stopped by to greet Pope Francis, who has been resuming some official duties during his recovery from pneumonia.

It is confusing.

Don’t know what’s true.

Might have something to do with meeting not being official.

I think it's pretty clear that the "meeting " between state leaders is not the same as a brief "hello goodbye".
He had a meeting with a Cardinal who is Secretary of State of the Vatican and an Archbishop Gallagher who is the Vatican Foreign Minister.
He may have "met" the Pope briefly to greet him but all the talking on policy will have been via the Foreign minister and Secretary of State. The Pope won't have held a "meeting" with Vance. Vance already knows what the Pope feels about US and their treatment of migrant people. He's condemned it already. And he responded very strongly publicly to Vance's comments on what Vance called "circles of love". The Pope wrote...an encyclical letter to US Bishops...
Francis’s encyclical calls the Trump administration’s program of mass deportation a “major crisis” and an effort to apply brute force to a global migration trend that calls for sensitivity and compassion: “What is built on the basis of force, and not on the truth about the equal dignity of every human being, begins badly and will end badly.” Francis noted that Christ himself “did not live apart from the difficult experience of being expelled from his own land because of an imminent risk to his life, and from the experience of having to take refuge in a society and a culture foreign to his own. The Son of God, in becoming man, also chose to live the drama of immigration.”
Having presented basic church teachings on immigration, Francis briskly turned to Vance’s ordo amoris defense of nativism:
Christian love is not a concentric expansion of interests that little by little extend to other persons and groups … The true ordo amoris that must be promoted is that which we discover by meditating constantly on the parable of the “Good Samaritan” (cf. Lk 10:25-37), that is, by meditating on the love that builds a fraternity open to all, without exception.
But worrying about personal, community or national identity, apart from these considerations, easily introduces an ideological criterion that distorts social life and imposes the will of the strongest as the criterion of truth.
Catholic writer Elizabeth Bruenig put it more plainly in a recent meditation on Vance’s version of the faith:

The decision to love and serve the stranger, the refugee, and the foreigner with charity is a hallmark of the Christian faith, such that a government crackdown on this work seems to be a threat to Christian practice itself, or an attempt to reshape it into something else altogether

Pope Francis is clear that Christians are to love and serve the stranger. To love all equally..not just the people they like or agree with. I'm sure this would be why he would briefly greet Vance.. even in his own weakened state.

EXCLUSIVE! Details of Vance's "quick and private" meeting with the Pope can be revealed here on U75!

Originally there was no planned meeting, but then one of Vance's advisors spotted the ailing Pope going into a public bathroom and rushed to tell Vance. Vance then ran out of a meeting with Cardinal Parolin and dashed to the bathroom, where he committed the cardinal sin of standing at the next urinal to the Pope even though all the other urinals were free.

Their full conversation can now be exclusively revealed:

V - "Hey Mr Pope, great to meetcha"
P - "Estoy intentando orinar aquí"
V - "Wait till I tell the guys back home, they'll be so jealous"
P - "Déjame en paz, solo quiero orinar"

At this point two cardinals arrived to escort the Pope back to his apartment and the meeting was concluded.

I've been looking for this quote for days to make sure he did say it:

Today's "builders of Babel" are constructing a hell on earth, rejecting everyone they decide are "losers," Pope Francis wrote in the meditations for the Way of the Cross.

"Your way, Jesus, is the way of the Beatitudes. It does not crush, but cultivates, repairs and protects," the pope wrote for the nighttime ceremony April 18 in Rome's Colosseum.

"Today's builders of Babel tell us that there is no room for losers, and that those who fall along the way are losers. Theirs is the construction site of hell."

CONSTRUCTION SITE OF HELL. Sick burn, the library is open 💅🏼
