I'm "single-trip" mentality too. Not so much out of furniture hate, but more not wanting to waste festival time. Get to camp, pop up tent, fuck off to festival land.

well exactly. I honestly wonder why some people didn't just stay at home, they obviously have such great difficulty leaving it all behind for a couple of days

Most live hip hop sucks....

that's bollocks.

but so's JZ.

i love glasto but its just a shame they've generally ignored hip hop. de la soul played the main stage in the early 90s but not much else. and JZ is just a cop out now, just another pop act.

can you imagine public enemy on the pyramid stage in about 1990? or Hijack, or Ice T. That would have been fun

Few qualifications to comment ;) :o (not that that stops me sometimes :p ) but chances are I'll be heading for Massive Attack around the time Jay-Z is on anyway .... :)

Hip Hop is a 'live' art-form ffs, are you saying it doesn't tranlate well to festies or that you don't get it?

I mean big hip hop acts in large venues, not MCs in clubs or whatever. I just don't think it translates to big stages, and people I've expected a lot of have just resorted to the same tired "all the ladies in house say 'yo'" cliches. De La Soul being a case in point.

I 'get it' fine, thanks :)

Good :)
Thanks for clarifying - I'm inclined to agree and Jay-z certainly wouldn't be my choice to headline anything.
I'm thinking if Eavis wants to represent hip hop more it should be done via the smaller stages (like Jazz World but without comprimising that stage specifically).
I saw The Roots play in 03 or 04 dunno but they got stuck in the dance tent  the sound quality was awful and I was gutted - they should've had a decent stage with a decent sound system and I'm sure it would have rocked.

Ditto. Though I sometime bring a chair because I'm a lazy bastard. But if it can't be carried easily in one journey, it ain't coming with me.

Never had a chance to see The Roots, actually, would like to.
They are quite unique.
I've seen 'em since at Shepherds Bush and I'm still not sure what I think of them live. One of those acts peeps need to make their own minds up about I reckon.

Jay-z is almost everything i hate about hip hop rolled into one obnoxious cunt. Very very rarely lyirically any good(moment of clarity, renegade and dig a hole about the only exceptions). He is fuill on champagne, hos, bitches and all the other bollocks. Annoying shit samples(annie for fucks sake:mad: )

AND he holds back more talented rappers then anyone else ever! The ammount of people he has pissed off as label head of def jam and roca-fella is getting silly. I hate him i hate him i hate him.

Would love to see some more hip hop at glastonbury but oh dear god if i even hear the hook for big pimpin there i am likely to go postal.

His nas disses and linkin park collaberation stuff were all good though.

You know I thug 'em, f**k 'em, love 'em, leave 'em
Cause I don't f**kin' need 'em
Take 'em out the hood
Keep 'em looking good
But I don't f**kin' feed em
First time they fuss I'm breezin'
Talking 'bout what's the reasons
I'm a pimp in every sense of the word, bitch
Better trust and believe 'em
In a cut where I keep 'em
'Til I need a nut
'Til I need to be (in) the guts
The it's beep-beep and I'm pickin 'em up
Let 'em play with the dick in the truck
Many chicks wanna put Jigga fist incuffs
Divorce him and split his bucks
Just because you got good head
I'mma break bread
So you can be livin' it up
Shit I part's wit nothin
Y'all be frontin'
Me give my heart to a woman
Not for nothin' never happen'
I'll be forever mackin'
Heart cold as assassins, I got no passion
I got no patience and I hate waitin'
Hoe get your ass in

Chorus 1
And let's RI-I-I-I-I-IDE
Check 'em out now
RI-I-I-I-I-IDE
Yeah
And let's RI-I-I-I-I-IDE
Check em out now
RI-I-I-I-I-IDE
Yeah

Chorus 2
We doin' big pimpin, we spendin'them g's
(check em out now)
Big pimpin'
On B.L.A.P.'s
We doin' big pimpin' up in NYC
It's just that Jigga-man, Pimp-C and B.U.N.B.
Check em out now

what a knob!

In 2007 there were chairs.
In 2005 there were chairs.
In 2004 there were chairs.

(Need I go on?)

;)

Yeah, but last year there were whole rows of chairs across the middle of, for example, the Avalon tent, which meant you just couldn't move round the tent. To add insult to injury, people weren't even sitting on them, they were using them to keep their bags off the ground. Chair usage has become selfish, invasive and downright rude.

Ah ok.

Chairs in tents is a bit much IMHO. Bit dangerous too - I've walked into a few in dark tents. I'm surprised they don't ban it, at least except at the edges by a tent wall.

There'd be a good case under health & safety to do so imho. But would you want to risk bad pr by telling the flowery wellied hordes they can't drag their latest piece of disposable consumerism everywhere with them?

They're a menace and the numbers which are just abandoned at the end of the weekend are outrageous.

This is Jay-Z.

They've barely met. :p

I agree. Jay Z is a tosspot.

There be some mighty electricity pylons on the helicopter flight route to the main stage, let's hope the pilot is busy staring up Beyonce's skirt.
