I hope not. I was a PJ super fan in the 90s/00s but I wish all these groups would just bow out gracefully. Just enjoy your royalties and legendary status guys. That goes for the Pumpkins too.

I listen to every new Pumpkins record that comes out at least once. It's hard to credit just how consistently they keep getting worse. Billy Corgan needs some kind of restraining order to keep him at least 30 feet from synthesisers at all times.

Can you even imagine what Cobain would be up to now. Would he still be labouring through smells like teen spirit at festivals in his 50s?

'It's better to burn out, than to fade away'

Neil Young was famously horrified by Cobain's interpretation of that line.

The violent death of a young person is never something to be thankful for.

Well, he was off his tits when he wrote that suicide note tbf. But if that's the way he interpreted the lyric, so be it.

Going back to PJ, Vedder has claimed that he wrote Immortality before Cobain killed himself but the lyrics do seem very much about him - 'cigar box on the floor' etc... but won't continue the sidetrack here ;)

Everyone at the time believed this was about Kurt.. based on the photos of the scene of the note, cigar box where he kept his gun and everything

Vacate is the word
Vengeance has no place so near to her
Cannot find the comfort in this world
Artificial tear
Vessel stabbed, next up, volunteer?
Vulnerable wisdom can't adhere
A truant finds home
And I wish to hold on
But there's a trapdoor in the sun
Immortality
As privileged as a whore
Victims in demand for public show
Swept out through the cracks beneath the door
Holier than thou, how?
Surrendered, executed, anyhow
Scrawl dissolved, cigar box on the floor
A truant finds home
And I wish to hold on, too
But saw the trapdoor in the sun
Immortality
I cannot stop the thought
I'm running in the dark
Coming up a which way sign
All good truants must decide
Oh, stripped and sold mom
Auctioned forearm
And whiskers in the sink
Truants move on
Cannot stay long
Some die just to live

Black Girlfriend is a bit offkey
Saw them do that at Glastonbury. With 'exotic dancers' onstage. Seemed weird even back then tbh.

I wasnt really that into them at the time but Jane's Addiction had some great songs. I saw their last gig in England and I now recognise it was a bit wasted on me at the time. Only got into them more recently. I love it when they go full high energy, like this one:

Some artists don't hit their peak until they're way older than Cobain was - if Nick Cave had died at 27, there would only have been one Bad Seeds album, and Leonard Cohen's first album came out when he was 33

It's interesting that Perry Farrell is one of the last guys standing from that period. Given we lost Cobain, Cornell, Stayley, Lanegan, Hoon, Weiland.. and probably others.... but the biggest nutter of them all still walks amongst us. I never saw JA but used to get sent bootlegs from the US in my teens. Unbridled might be the word.

Please don't call people with mental health issues "nutter"

Any chance you could restrain yourself too? Seems like every time I see you posting, it's you wagging your finger at someone.

Your board policing is relentless, tiresome and frankly weird. You're not a moderator. Just give it a rest, please. You're exasperating.

No Idea who your are, but if you're an apologist for such slurs, you might want to police yourself

Careful, we'll both be accused of being anti Irish next...

Got the oar stuck in real well today, haven't you?

Don't have to accuse you of being anti- Irish. Your comments are there for all to see.

You know, for someone who wants nothing to do with me, you can't help but stroll in with your policing, casual bigotry, whataboutery, petty snipes and rancid beef.

As someone who has mental health issues, this self doesn't much care for words like "nutter" and so I'll speak out as and when I see fit. It may make a small difference, it may not.

I'm barely clinging on to this existence, but I'll be damned if you and your craven shtick get the better of me.

Have I ever said that I want nothing to do with you? You may be confusing me with one of several other posters who have expressed that sentiment.

FWIW, I also have mental health issues, but when I see the word nutter applied to a nutter like Perry Farrell I don't immediately take it a slur on everyone with mental health issues, I see it as a reasonable colloquial description of his behaviour over the decades, whether or not he's now claiming mental health issues in mitigation of some of that behaviour.

If you really are "barely clinging on to this existence", I hope you find ways of making things better for yourself, which might include thinking about what and how much you post on Urban, but I won't take any responsibility for your feelings by avoiding posting occasional criticisms of your shit posting.

Fuck off, creep

I've never considered 'nutter' to be offensive. 'Loon' is similar and that's used quite liberally around these parts.
