I've seen him live at the Royal Albert Hall , you may not the like guy or his music but you cannot deny he can sing.

I know it's not the most popular viewpoint but, hey, I like Jamiroquai. Jay Kay has the occasional propensity to come across as a bit of a flash wideboy tosser at times, but Sting's much worse.

I honestly think the first three albums were slick, catchy and brilliantly written, and even if he did go off the boil with the rather sappy retreads of 'A Funk Odyssey', the hep cat's certainly got the mojo back big time with the raw experimental bronchio-funk disco of 'Feels Just Like It Should' (listen to it - it rocks!) and 'Seven Days In Sunny June' is just an unapologetically sublime Summer reverie, what he's always done best pushed up another notch still.

BTW my favourite band is the Fall.

Sorry!

Well done Milesy.

I clicked on this thread thinking that 'crap' doesn't quite sum up my feelings on that cunt. But your second poll option expresses how I feel exactly.

Just like to add that as a rule of thumb, people who like Jamiroquai are not to be trusted on questions of musical taste at all.

I said "crap" but I really meant "bland" .. I have quite a lot of bland CDs in my collection though - I have several Simply Red CDs - mostly bought secondhand - though I haven't found myself in the mood to play them for a long time .. it was a work colleague's fault - he kept singing the songs ...
.

I went to a house party once, and someone spotted a pile of simply red CDs on the shelf.

They ended up in the microwave :D

I'm going to use that excuse all the time now, yeah I may be a cunt but ... Sting's worse

"Just like to add that as a rule of thumb, people who like Jamiroquai are not to be trusted on questions of musical taste at all"...

My listening tastes at the moment are of course Jamiroquai, Cypress Hill, De La Soul, The Prodigy Fat of the Land, and the new Coldplay: Eclectic and classic I feel. It could of course be jealousy of JK and his trappings...

Jamiroquai fans are just too young to know that what they are really hearing is sub-standard Stevie Wonder b-side material sung by a thick (ever hear his oh-so penetrating critique of the poll tax?), arrogant twat with shit headgear.

First album , pretty good , at least if you heard it on its release ,no hindsight opinions allowed ! jazzy, funky ,decent voice , second album heard it all before but if its your kind of music I can see why he`s still around.

Vety much a 'critics' point of view that: (try hard to) slag off the music/voice, but end up slagging off the person, which is the thing you really hate. Or the fact that he's shagged many a bird. Or has £15m in the bank, and oh, the fast cars.
Hes a twat, yes, most of the time, but that doesnt deny the fact that hes music is uplifting and well made, and that he can sing, which is more than what can be said for the mainstream trash about these days.

Re: CSI thread. Well beaten: 10 people like J a whopping 15%... not bad. Face it, he's not as disliked as people had hoped.

It's Jays hat not Jay shat...(for the 20th time)

And...the new Coldplay is good stuff. Another easy target.

Musical snobbery, that's what.

have you no humility? jesus died for you.

(btw a better example of musical snobbery was the indignant reaction all you Coldplayer types had when "crazy frog" swept the charts at the expense of the "honest, quality" music of Martin et al - but meh)

Of course Jamiroquai and Coldplay are easy targets. They're easy targets because the music is bland, unoriginal, easy listening which doesn't go anywhere and fails to engage the brain in any way shape or form. It's not snobbery, it's wanting the music I listen to to do something for me, to take me somewhere, to provide me with something new to listen to even when I'm playing it for the umpteenth time.

I couldn't give a fuck how many cars he owns or how much money he has. I like loads of people who are millionaires several times over. It's not an issue, anyone who tries to imply it is is merely masking their incomprehension that somebody is capable of not liking music which is weirdly popular with other people.

Crap, crap, crap.

i remember jay getting pulled up on wearing a real fur hat.

i remember jay responding, and he was quite pissed off, cause he'd found it and had chosen to "recycle it"

wouldn't buy any of his albums. i have found myself tapping my feet or whatever when he's on the radio though.
