Jamies Return To School Dinners

The BBC reported that they'd also been passing salad roles through the fence. Are they a "meal of shit" as well?

Of course it's not a good idea to feed your kids chips through a fence, but then neither is it a good idea for the school to give the kids only half an hour to queue for, be served, and eat, the school lunch. (Some only reaching the head of the queue as the bell went.)

People are being quick to scapegoat the parents without looking at, or knowing, the full facts.

I was very saddened to learn that some of those kids have to make their own packed lunches and some dont get a hot meal at night

Personally, I look at the facts and still think the Mums are being incredibly irresponsible. Most schools now have such short lunch breaks and work well with it.

If they're passing salad rolls through, I don't understand why they didn't just give the kid a packed lunch.

I reckon 11 years old is quite old enough to make your own sandwiches, but it is sad about the lack of 'proper' meals.

Anyway, this was all discussed on the other thread.

nonamenopackdrill - those articles were interesting for the extra info, but they have an agenda and manipulate the facts just as much as the people they're decrying. They refer to 'Jamies school dinner Jihad!' They call the women at the school gates slim, which is a lie; they weren't fat slags like in the sun cartoon either, but at least that is a caricature. Any journalist who can say that a diet of turkey twizzlers, chips and beans is perfectly nutritious for children really shouldn't be writing about food. (Junk like that is fine now and then, but not every day!)

I agree, I said I didn't agree with them.
