Jamie Saves Our Bacon

True but whilst basically upselling the more expensive ranges which give them better margins anyway.

Organic/Free Range food is more expensive than mass produced food. So?

He did actually get bollocked for it by Sainsburys. They weren't happy.

Eh lol, point was that fact it is more expensive means if people did go through with switching to it then Sainsburys would actually be better off anyway. Hadn't realised he'd got a bollocking for it tho.

I wouldn't have thought it would affect their profit margins hugely. It costs them more to buy in.

the premium stuff is where all the profit is made. sainsburys pretty much sell the economy at cost whereas the markup on luxury items is quite high, hence the big push on taste the difference brands

Well if everyone buying economy switched to buying the organic ranges that would be a substantial amount of demand. Whilst it does cost more to buy in as it costs more to produce, fairly sure the supermarkets make more per unit sale in profit on the organic.

It doesn't have to be organic be more animal friendly

lol im not arguing against the idea of it at all, just used organic as an example.
Which would be fair enough if he was pushing sainsburies organic pork in this particular show but he wasn't. He even criticised their labelling as not being transparent enough about the origins of the meat.

Thought the whole thing was trying to make people think about where the food came from, meaning it pretty much pushes them towards the more premium organic range.

I don't think so, it's trying to get people interested in the welfare and origin of the product afaia. It doesn't have to mean it's organic or 'premium'. Within that he's trying to highlight cheaper cuts of meat.

:)
Because of Japan's rugged terrain and isolated areas, different breeding and feeding techniques were used such as massaging or adding beer or sake to their feeding regimen. It is suggested that this was done to aid in digestion and induce hunger during humid seasons but appears to have no effect on the meat's flavor.

It'll be the fact that they're half angus that makes them tasty (and pissed)
