Condoleezza Rice to visit Liverpool on Friday 31st March!
Merseyside Stop The War Coalition 2006-03-17 23:16
LINE UP ON STEPS OF LIVERPOOL'S CATHOLIC CATHEDRAL 5pm FRIDAY 31st MARCH AND MARCH TO PHILHARMONIC HALL.
CONDOLEEZZA RICE WILL BE AT THE PHIL THAT EVENING!
Please let's all pull together for the biggest anti-war demonstration this city has ever seen. George Bush's number two is coming to town. I want to see the biggest & widest mobilisation ever. Please talk to your friends about it. Take resolutions to your trade unions asking for support. Build this demonstration in your communities. Build it in the churches &mosques. Write letters urgently to the Echo/Daily Post and to your local papers. Get on the Roger Phillips show and any other phone in. Let's do a John Lennon "Imagine all the people saying no to Condi the war monger!"

This thread has just reminded me of just how out of the picture Straw has generally been as foreign secretary - with Blair doing his international "statesman" bit ....

Straw grassed his own son up to the OB when he was 'honeytrapped' by a journo from the Mirror into sorting her out an 1/8th of hash. What does anyone fucking expect?

Aha i'd completely forgotten about that. I was only talking today about how much straw has changed since his days outside of being in the leadership.

The man who betrayed his own son for no fucking misdemenour whatsoever in order to further his political life. What a tosser. What an insight into the influence that power has over people's souls.

He is a contender for the worst wanker after blair. Blair of course wins hands down, but i think straw comes a very close second.

...Even though it is the law under the Representation of the People Act, the Council had refused to provide him [Craig Murray, standing against Jack Straw] with a list of public meeting venues for election campaign meetings. He also explained how Straw had tried to suppress his forthcoming book "Murder in Samarkand" - available for order on Amazon...
There was also the matter of Craig Murray's official election address leaflets that were unfathomably held up at the sorting office until a few enterprising people -- outraged by the effecting gagging and censorship -- got some vans and took it upon themselves to deliver the leaflets themselves.

There were dubious incidents too innumerable to mention.

What went on in Blackburn was shameful in a country that purports to be democracy.
