I've just put my tent up to check it still works

We use a carp trolley like this. It's made of welded box-section and comes to bits for easy storage.

Thanks for trolley input - have been staying at 85 yr old mother's gaff so no internet access.

I already have a carp trolley which I got some where nr Nth Eardington, but it is a bit rusty now.

Also have heavy duty sack trolley, need reccos for really good trolley, I will pull sack one, dear darling (soft boiled) spaghetti armed daughter( aka Mono Polly on Urban) will pretend to pull the other.

Help????

My surprise birthday present from Mr Madz was a folding sack truck

I'm going to buy pink bungees

Did you know that tent manufacturers treat tents with a certain chemical that breaks the tent material down after a certain period of time.

You often don't know about it until you've had a good shower.

I doubt that somehow, they don't actually need to.

Something in the sky does a perfectly decent job for them.

If anybody is after some new camping gear for the summer Millets are currently doing a “Buy One Get One Half Price” deal on virtually everything including boots, tents & rucksacks.

Ours is about to get its first proper outing since September (proper as in at a real festival I mean). This weekend at Bearded Theory, Derbyshire. R**n forecast at times and it'll be chilly, so a real test .... :D :hmm:

A festival's a festival though! :)

Seeing as how the weather is fantastic here today, I'm going to try mine in a minute.

The forecast is not so good later, so I'm going to leave it up for a few days :D

Because:

a) Lots of people are selfish, lazy cunts

and

b) Lots of people don't know how to put up a tent properly and thus get wet when it rains, blaming their "broken" tent

but bees, not everyone is a tent ubermeister like you :D I haven't forgotten the time you rescued me when I was flailing around with mine in a high wind. :)

Perhaps festival skills should be compulsory at school. :D

Anyway I have put my tent up and it seems fine. I am very pleased with it cos I've had it a long time and it has seen many, many festies.

I want to give it a waterproof coat - any recommendations? I have heard Nikwax is good - has anyone tried it?

Nikwax should work, tis pretty good :)

Nitwax is the business.

Really does what it says on the bottle. Ideally it needs to be put on when the tent is wet, so you can do it when its raining and just leave it up. Or soak it with the hose. It can also be used when its hammering down and your tent is leaking. It will stop it leaking.

My tent is fine, I checked it the other day.

Just need to waterproof and seam seal my old NF RoadRunner 2.

You can upgrade to proper stakes, ones that dont come out when someone snores heavily nearby.

Yes - I upgraded to heavy duty ones a few years ago and it was a good investment.

They don't bend, will go in any ground and get used again and again, and they have coloured ends so you don't miss them when you are packing up :)
