I've just joined the terabyte club :)

It was 16K, I remember it well cos I had to tape the bastard thoroughly to my ZX81 as it was prone to RAM pack wobble -> computer dies with my carefully typed in game vanished in a puff of logic
Au contraire, my young apprentice.

It was a 15K "expansion" pack - i.e., vanilla ZX81 = 1K, expansion pack = 15K, total = 16K.

Much to learn, have you.

I take it you've removed the drives and slaved them to one of your desktop computers to check weather its the netgear unit and not the actual harddisk drives that are at fault?

Long past that my friend. The worst thing is that they use their own file ordering system, so you can't use a formatted drive with anything else.

As I say... avoid.

And after you spent like two hours typing in a program and just knocked the bloody thing.. it would crash

Ouch, crap like that should be advertised on the box, in big black bold txt. I hate pheripherals that refuse to conform to the universal norm and choose some bespoke system to function correctly. Cheers for the warning, I'm really glad you posted about this, Me and my father have been looking into getting one of these NetGear puppies to hook up to our Router in order to store our music collection. We won't be now though.

Glad to be of service. Since my last post, I've just spent an hour and a half on the phone - finally got escalated to California HQ, close to a solution, but a long and convoluted one which'll take a couple of days.

Many more nightmares here, just so you really aren't tempted: http://reviews.zdnet.co.uk/hardware/storage/0,39024063,39231611,00.htm

Ignore the rating, look at the comments.

Christ I wish I'd seen this beforehand.
