Nope.

But the nature of the site means there'll be higher a proportion than elsewhere.

Oooh, guess you'd better be fucking off this thread quick, then, before the Big Man comes . . .

ok its a visiting officer from the 'customer compliance team', I'm claiming jobseekers allowance, have been for about 6 weeks, I've been on benefits before for longer and never had this, is this a new thing they do or something?

also, this 'visit' is on my signing day, so if i have to wait home all day for them i will miss my signing time?

Yes, when i reclaimed they did a house check to and filled out the rest of the forms and also had a check around the house:eek:

They now want to know my bank account number and sort code?????

DWP cannot ask to check around your house, only the local authority housing benefit people can do this as they are paying money for where you live.

As for your bank a/c details, that will be so that they can pay you benefit into the account, as they don't really send out giros or order books anymore if they can help it.

No it was when i signed back on a for a bit inbetween jobs, then a separate person came round to check if i had heard from my daughters father:confused:

As for account details my housing benefit is paid directly to landlord and i no longer have any other benefit so why they need this info is taking the piss really:confused:

First bit is Child Support Agency stuff by the sound of it - for lone parents claiming benefit, they insist that you go through the processes involved in trying to obtain maintenance from the absent parent so that they can pay less in benefits to you.

If you're not claiming benefit atm, other than HB, i agree that it is odd asking for your a/c details - why not give them a call to ask them why they want them?

well its a review form and they have asked me for the details as compulsary, i just adjusted the middle digit:o

Now they want two months bank statements and have specificall asked when i opened the account???

its highly likely that with my recent promotion they are going to reduce the amount or even withdraw it all together as im earning a good wage at present......but all my hard work will be swallowed up by having to pay all the rent now:(

At least i finally done it though, i mean i have been on full benefit since i was sixteen, its about time i started to pay it back:D

If your income has increased and you didn't notify HB at the time of the increase, its very likely that they are going to ask you to pay back some of the benefit you've recieved since. HB gets withdrawn at 65p in the £ and council tax benefit at 20p in the £ (ludicrous isn't it, what a work incentive it is losing 85p of every £ you earn).

If this does occur, I strongly advise you to seek out your local CAB or law centre if you can for advice, because (1) you will need to check the veracity of information provided by the local authority, in terms of dates, amounts, etc (2) if there is a valid overpayment, you should be able to negotiate weekly repayments which can be a help.

Good news about the promotion & pay rise though :)

No incentive at all and my tax credit is being zapped  BUT im looking forward to the challenge:)

It is to check on your living arangements...

I had this once when I was 18.

I had just signed on to my partner's claim, and we were both sleeping on a matress on someone's living room floor. He lived in the bedroom, as well as a 15 year old hooker sometimes sleeping on the couch, and about 7 homeless using it as a care-of.

The dole inspector called about 11.30 in the morning and was a nervous looking young chap in an ill-fitting suit.

I was wearing a bra, thong, and one of those goth jumpers full of holes.

The hooker answered the door in her too-short work dress, thigh boots and no knickers.

My bf was still in bed.

The man from the dole didn't stop for a cup of tea, but hepassed our claim.

Once when my wife and I sheltered a homeless, destitute and suicidal man for six months until he got back to some level or normality. We had six visits from what can only be termed government agency snoopers.
I would not mind if any of the visits were to give the poor bastard some official help, they were all to check he was not fiddling benefit.
have you seen those tv ads procaliming the evils of benefit fraudsters!

Conveniently it was followed by an advert talking about government waste and corporate fraud.

Oh wait, no it wasn't. Just an advert helping to demonise the wretched again.

Oh well.

Id ring them and ask to change the visit time so you can comply. If you are 'out' they are likely to stop your benefit for non compliance and that will be an utter pain in the arse.
They are wanting to check you arent fiddling. I had one of these when I was a single parent. I suspect a neighbour had claimed I wasnt genuine I lived in that type of estate full of small minded gossips.
They came, asked to have a chat, were clearly looking for evidence of me living beyond my means, asked to use the bathroom etc( I let them, I had nothing to hide) They asked me whether I had someone else living there. I told them no and they were welcome to search my home if necessary... they packed up and left
chances are if you ask them to change the date they will accuse you of not abiding by your JSA. This is not good and it's happened to me (though not because of a home interview). Best advice is probably to be in because if you are out they will also assume that youa ren't available for work and thus in breach of your JSA.

though it being on the normal signing time does make a difference. if they can't be bothered to listen when you call them about it, just turn up and sign on. They can't accuse you of much if you actually came into the office to sign ffs.

So I phoned them up to tell them that the visit is the same day as my signing day, they said show up late for your signing and tell them you had a visit. They also said that someone would phone me about this visit a few days before they showed up, the visit is tomorrow and no-one has phoned. Why do I get the feeling that I'm gonna wait in all day, no-one is going to show up, and I'm gonna miss my signing.

Or maybe thats just me being a pessimistic twat

They want to know if the person you're living with is a partner or not - are you shagging them. Someone I know was asked if she and her housemate had separate cutlery to establish if they were partners

As soon as it opens in the morning, phone your dole office to book a late signing and you might be able to get one for near the end of the day. Otherwise, you'll have to go there the next day; there's no point in just turning up late, as they won't see you - you have to be booked in.

If you take the letter with you stating that they were coming to visit on that day, then there shouldn't be a problem.

I had to do a late signing several times, because the signing time they gave me was impossible for me to make (it was five minutes after my daughter's school starting time, fifteen minutes away from the jobcentre), and there was never a big problem.

Your benefit payment could be delayed by a day or two if you sign late (that applies even if you sign late on the same day that you were supposed to sign), but it should still be paid.

They shouldn't be able to ask about shagging.. or indeed cutlery. I think they need to establish whether there is 'a stability of relationship' between the people living there.

Well the visit guy has been, was pretty painless really, he was only here 5 minutes, just asked me a few questions about my job hunting, nothing I havent been asked before when I go to sign on

Yeah, I has the same thing a few years ago. Asking if my flatmate and I went shopping together. I said 'Yes' as he was the one with the car but had to make sure this dole dude knew that we did sperate shopping and paid sperately.

Turned out the dole dude (DD) had been to skool with my flatmate (FM) and he had the blind cheek to give it the "Oh, so is FM still messing about with his music stuff, is he? <sneersneer>"

Me: Uhm, yes. It's all really going wel....
DD: You'd have thought he'd grown out of that stuff, wouldn't you?
Me out loud: Wtf? Do you actually have any more questions for me or what?
Me in my head: You horrible cunt. You're a SS frard inspector, you unsuccessful bastard :mad:

I'm back on the dole in a few weeks, i'll prob need to start a thread about it asking for advice.

I got grilled by a complaiance officer before because i share a 2bed with a girl. He asked questions about my relationships, and has claimed apparently everytime i sign on now they are going to check to see if i'm going out with that person i live with. Even he claimed when i go share a flat with guys.
