I've had enough of Brixton - I need to get out of here

Rumour has that the Woolies will re-open selling Kevlar Garments

I am especially enamoured of the Nomex range as they are flame resistant - useful for protection against the clumsier crackhead should they stumble on you as you pass by!!:D:D

Jump-Suits-Are-Us

I am already a regular at their Peckham Factory Outlet!!!;)

Already a winner with the Brixton Golden Age club as practical wear for when it rains too...also leaves hand free to beat off miscreants with laden shopping bags when picking up your pension at brixton's only remaining Post office.......

I can't understand how you managed to walk around Brixton - which is typically full of normal people catching buses, tubes and trains, shopping and going to and from school and work - and *only* saw scumbags?

You must be a pretty anti-social type if you take such an instant dislike to thousands if people you don't even know.

Float, you obviously haven't seen any of Derf's other posts. :)

I dunno if my boys a bit older than yours or around the same age. But I don't think it's safe for teenage boys at all. Please be careful with your boy and make sure he's street wise. It's not safe for them. I suspect that might be a London wide thing. I dunno as I've never had teenage boys anywhere else. Or been one.

I have fears around him being a teenager and all the potential for scrapes and knocks that come with that, but it's not Brixton that fuels those fears....it's having been a teenage boy myself and knowing what he might be getting up to :(

I am sure it's a London-wide* thing. I've worked all over the capital in schools and boys are much more at risk from violence than girls. I've also brought up two girls and boy to adulthood in Brixton.

*I suspect also Manchester, Liverpool, Glasgow etc

I grew up in Leeds and left at 21, thinking it was the most violent place in Britain. Now, I'm not so sure. I now think boys from early teens to young adulthood get subjected to a lot of aggression wherever they are.
