I've got to hand in my notice....

I haven't done it yet :o

The trouble is the day I want to leave my boss isn't even here.

I have to give a calender month so if I hand it in on Wednesday I can leave the first Wednesday of next month and I'm off to Italy that day. (She's off on the Tuesday the day before).

I dunno what to do

I am a flake!!
She maybe really pleased for you :)

Trashy is right - your boss will appreciate the notice and if you get along well and you're moving cause you'll be somewhere else geographically, they won't take it personally. People usually wish for the best for you if you've been a good employee. Talk to her today informally, then write a nice letter saying you've really enjoyed their support/professionalism/friendship or whatever during your time there and leave on a good note. You'll probably want them as a reference, after all.

good luck Z normally i am practically foaming at the mouth with joy when i hand in my resignation letters :D

Me too. Usually just wandering round with the notice letter in my handbag makes the whole thing a lot easier.. weight off the mind, and all that.

I'm so out of date though, where is Zenie moving to?

Moving back to London

I've typed it up

I'm gonna give it to her in a bit when the other girls not about.

*Fingers Crossed*:( :eek::D

Good luck! - you'll feel soooo much better when it is out in the open.

The first time I had to hand in my notice I was in tears - it was like ending a relationship. I knew it was the right thing to do but it was still really difficult.

Your boss will be fine about it - it was 4 years ago I left that job and my boss at the time just invited me to the christening of his daughter, we still keep in touch. :)

I like that you're being considerate and that you actually care about your boss. I have a feeling she'll appreciate how thoughtful you're being and, as someone else mentioned, she may be sad to see you go but happy for you at the same time. :)

zenie; make sure you put in a nice line thanking her for all the help she's given you, and wishing the organisation well for the future

You think I should?

She started telling me stuff she shouldnt about a colleague *ahem* being got rid of and I bottled it.:o

Tomorrow *really* is the very very last day I have so I must do it!!

I'll retype ut in a bit then :)

Yeah that's a good idea - don't go really soppy, but something formalish along the lines of

"I'd like to take the opportunity of thanking you for your help over the time I have been here, during which I have learnt a lot about X. I would like to wish both you and company X prosperity for the future."

(and Do It! )

the reason why beeboo and I suggested it is this; you really never know when you may run into, or need, these people again. that, plus the matter of a reference.
for the same reason - take 'em all for a leaving-day drink

Fucking hell, every time I've had to hand in my notice I've practically tapdanced into the office and sung it out Broadway-style.
