I've finally found a miracle food solution.. behold the Salade Filter

The danger with this is that's it's so nice, you can end up over feeding yourself.

Also, last week, I rode from Covent Garden to Islington via my house in Brixton so I could eat some

Filter, you're a wrong un. :p

sheo, that recipe sounds delicious.

CF altho it sounds nice and healthy don't you get bored with same thing every day?

don't you yearn for a kneejerk chicken, some instant noodles or an off the cuff plumb duff?

Chris is innocent of the charges against him.

You can keep cooked rice for 5-6 days in the refridgerator.

Because of the enormous surface area on which bactera can thrive, it is extremely dangerous to keep a rice dish for this long.

Sounds tasty, though. :)

How long can you store cooked rice, and how do you reheat it successfully?

You can store cooked rice for about 6 days in the refrigerator or up to 6 months in the freezer. To reheat it, add 2 tablespoons of water for each cup of cooked rice and put it over very low heat on the stove or reheat it in a microwave oven.

You have to make sure you cool the rice down properly, and refrigerate quickly. If you leave it out too long, it could be quite dangerous.

It goes straight from the pan, to the tub, covered in the salad, then straight in fridge.

That's for reheating though.. there's no reheating involved.

Then that's even worse, isnt it?! I assumed that reheating might kill off some of the bacteria that have gathered on the rice in all that time, but I'm no expert.

Don't let me put you off, though. Maybe you'll be fine if you keep eating it, and it's up to you, innit. But, I'd try to steer clear of it, and I'd certainly think twice before giving it to a sick, elderly or pregnant person.

It might be that I'm a bit over-sensitve about food poisoning, though, since getting so pissed on friday night that I thought it a good idea to eat a hotdog from a street cart, and then spending the next two days being violently sick, and suffering the trots! :(

And I guess my lack of judgement hardly makes me best placed to question the safety of your salade, either! :)

Nah, reheating is where the problem lies I think.. ah well, been storing brown rice dishes and eating them up to a week later for a couple of years now with no ill effect, so I'll keep on keeping on.

Readers beware though. RISKY.

Don't think reheating is the issue - some hardy bacteria get activated by the first cooking, they then feed off the rice creating toxins, which won't be neutralised by another cooking. Mind you I can't recall ever had food poisoning from rice.

Me neither, and I've had 2, 3 even 4 day old reheated (and only reheated to eating temperature) rice and not had a problem. I think the whole thing of food poisoning is generally overstated. Although that being said I did get a nast bout off a Pepperami as a kid!

This is obviously a summer megameal. Chris, you have until October to devise the ultimate winter megameal.
