An employer would see a two year gap on a cv and think

A. Lazzy
B. Ill
C. Why have they not been Unemployed for the last two years some thing must be wrong (alarmbell ring

Not my words it how they think, and cv goes in the bin.

Depends on what sort of role really. If it's something like IT, yeah, I'd have reservations as skills move very quickly.

Just because someone has a 2 year gap doesn't mean the CV goes in the bin... it will if it looks like someone is covering something up though. Best be honest.

I covered up an Ibizan drag queening career as 'entertainments and promotions team management'. I did have another drag queen under my command and we did sometimes hand out leaflets when we could walk straight, so it was vaguely true :)

Yes, a few years involvement in a soundsystem, became "entertainment promotions" on my CV too. :D

I already have quite a bit of 'Travelling in Europe'. It looks better when you're younger.

Nothing too bad that I've been doing but 'smokiung spliffs in bed, arising about noonish to do some work to top up my benefits, enabeling me to party hard' doesn't look too good; and as you say, a gap can make you look lazy/ill/etc.

Looks like 'more travel' it is. Last time I said an ill relative was to blame for me not working, Karma bit me in the arse big-time, so I won't be doing that.

Should we be starting a 'false reference' thread for people to link up?

People happy to provide references could post up what industry they think they can blag, and us jobseekers can take our pick.
