itv are shit

The cockup was bad enough but their coverage was shite from start to finish. One camera panning left and right for the whole game. Cheap and amateur.

I didn't miss the goal, just the build up to it.

And seriously, catch a grip folks, things go wrong now and again.

Most disappointing thing of all, is the most exciting game of the evening had a serious lack of coverage in the highlights...gutted

WE ARE DERBY, SUPER DERBY

When it cut to the ads I knew someone would score , I assumed it was just ITV wanting to get some ads in before penalties . ITV are fucking wankers

Seems to have been different in different regions. Moose (North West) says she got the coverage back just as the cross came in whereas down here in the West region we only got it back for the pile on.

The media is riddled with RedShites and this proves it

I think this is it - get some ads in before the penalties - then all the pissing about afterwards must have been while they were having a monumental row and completely forgot about what was going out on air - the clock then the logo stuck. - A crock of shite -

Thing is though, there's always a good few minutes before the penalties start because they have to sort out the order of takers, which end to take them at etc etc

ITV FA Cup statement
Published: Thursday, 5 February 2009, 10:11AM
During coverage of The FA Cup fourth round replay between Everton and Liverpool, ITV experienced an unprecedented transmission error. In some regions this resulted in an unplanned commercial break automatically interrupting coverage of the match. This problem occurred at the transmission centre and was not the responsibility of the ITV Sport production team.

ITV Executive Chairman, Michael Grade said: “Most importantly I’d like to apologise to all our viewers who were affected by last night’s unprecedented technical error. As a football fan myself I was glued to the match and was as disappointed as anyone to miss the goal.

“We have years of experience in dealing with the changes in ad break patterns when games go into extra time and, sometimes penalties - this we have done faultlessly through the Champions League, World Cup and European Championships. Last night's glitch was inexcusable and we are awaiting the results of our technical inquiry so we can put in place stringent and immediate procedures to address this.”

I hope both sides show the final and everyone watches BBC. ITV can't be trusted with any sport and should stick to reality TV and soaps.

Agreed. Imagine missing an England World Cup goal because of this uselessness. God knows they're rare enough - last thing you need is the TV channel missing the crucial bit of the match.

ITV is not only shit, it is also bust. So they've probably made the only person who knew which buttons to press redundant recently. That's my guess.

Same in London, the picture came back for the pile on.

I thought I couldn't hate ITV any more than I already did, but I was wrong.

ITV have form in this department, they did the same in F1 last season. Cut to commercials in the last lap and everyone missed the only overtaking manoveure of the whole fucking race. Useless fucking cunts.

AFAIK the ads for ITV1 in England and Wales are currently broadcast from 2 locations, the South Bank in London covers London, Meridian, Anglia, HTV and Westcountry and is quite heavily automated so they didn't notice their mistake for a good minute after a computer error accidentally started an ad break, as the South Bank's automated the ads started automatically.

The Midlands and the North of England are covered from Leeds, the ad breaks for Granada, Yorkshire, Tyne Tees, Central and Border are still done manually from Leeds, so when the network feed accidentally went to an ad break the techie bods at Leeds could switch back to the game after a few seconds, so viewers in the North got the game back before the goal.

Needless to say, ITV plan to close the transmission centre at Leeds and automate everything from London
