Its time for Urburn 9!!!!!

Boogie Boy

Rockin' on the 1210s
Okay, recently it appears that interest has been expressed in another Urburn taking place (see the end of the Urburn 8 thread).

I'm happy to organise this if enough people are interested?

BB:)

Yes I enjoyed the CDs I got with the last one, happy to go again. Has anyone ever suggested doing it with a theme? Not sure what...but might help to focus thinking on chosing tracks. Could be something simple, alphabetical, chronological, cover versions, female singers, underacheiving 90s bands...one hit wonders etc....

although on reflection maybe doing a theme is too restrictive and defeats the open minded spirit of it - what do others think

put on stuff I think is good.

Well then that can be the theme innit?

;)

For a laugh, we should do an "anti-Urburn" disk - see who can make the single worst compilation in the history of home recording.......

The gauntlet's down....

*Digs out Level 42 back catalogue*

Whilst this may be a crap idea I'll say it anyway -

why not record the compilation and upload it to a file hosting site and then post the link on this thread, then everyone can listen to everyone else's cd.

I have already done a thread about this but I couldn't be arsed to do the compilation to put on it. :o

You could also do a compilation where everyone contributed a track, on a theme or whatever.

*puts self on ignore*

I'm in.

I don't want my first one to be a bad taste one though, that can be another time I reckon.

And I reckon just burning it to CD & posting it is hard enough, without worrying about trying to host it somewhere for people to download.

I'm up for it! Count me in. :)

I agree about the theme thing tho'; maybe too restrictive. I like having no idea what I'm going to receive. If pple want to decide on their own themes tho', that's all good.. I'm sure I got one that was all-covers a while back. Was thinking about a "space" theme for the last one I took part in, but in the end sacked that off & just put on a bunch of tunes that fitted well together.

Okay,

So we have people interested in taking part, and most of you will know how the process works and what is expected of you. So, if you want to take part and are willing to commit to sending a minmum of two cds (I know that some people may want to send more) to another person, send me your details via pm by Monday 2nd October.

Once everyone has sent their info a random process will be used to identify who is sending to who, and you should have this info by Friday 6th October. Then you send yours and await the arrival of tunes to your door.

I think the deadline of Friday 20th October makes sense, after which the name and shame will begin. If for whatever reason you realise that you may not be able to comply with this deadline pm me and I can hopefully arrange for someone else to do so.

And I promise not to include a Level 42 record, as on the last Urburn I included 'Leaving Me Now'........which I like!

I always say I will but then forget. :o

BTW do we have to give out address details?

Well you could use a PO Box if you didn't want to use your home address, or ask a friend or use your work place?

BB:confused:

I want to do this but I can no longer connect my computer to my record player ( they are in different rooms and I'm far too lazy to move them ) , and that will mean I'll just be using mp3's I have which I don't want to do :(

Can you put me down as a maybe please !
