its that time of year again ,when my garden smells of spunk....

When I went to college they had those all round the local pub....makes me wanna heave!! (pukey face.....we need a pukey face smilie!!)

living by the sea here in the summer (december) all the coral starts to spunk when the water gets a certain temperature...the whole town smells like ...well..like....well use your imagination !!

This thread always makes me happy.

'tis the true mark of summer.

YAY! I did wonder about resurrecting this thread but I am happier that someone else did:D TY Swarfega.

Yes again like clockwork my tree spunked:cool:The smell has pretty much gone now.

So.

Anyone enjoying a spunky garden yet?

I know it is a week or two early, but I hear the weather has been nice recently?

:hmm:

Neither my chestnut or rowan have started to smell spunky. Got loads of flowers on the rowan too. Think the birds enjoyed the berries last autumn, one day it looked all red and lovely, next day it was bare!!

Try Sorbus hupehensis. The birds leave the berries unless it's a really hard winter. They are a beautiful colour too.

I did enjoy my usual annual spunky garden thanks-although very briefly-Ive been sooo damn busy! Hence me missing this thread;)

I got a brief whiff of spunk whilst out cycling this morning. Could that be the rowan or something else?

The smell is the main reason I decided against planting a Rowan.

The smell only lasts a short time, the beautiful berries last for months :)

I used to get complaints from neighbours about my rowan tree, demanding I chop it down cos of the smell, bloody cheek!
