Because one of their delivery men is off with a broken arm, which probably puts them well behind schedule. Big companies like DFS aren't exactly known for being reliable with their delivery dates either, anyway.

Also, I haven't paid the full whack yet and won't until the sofa's here.

Much as the weather is begining to disagree with you, there are people who have been sitting in offices (or pub basements) all day and are hoping to take advantage of the last rays of sunshine once their workday is done.

I am not now too hot. But the tube in 32 degrees with tons of fucking steps and a pushchair and bad back were not nice earlier. My flat is nice and cool though

Hopefully- my shift changed finished at 14.30-it was her second baby so I expect it was quick!

I couldn't remember the make of the sofa.

Anyway, we gave up waiting and went for a swim. Afterwards I called the sofa shop again, and this time they said they couldn't deliver it today and would have to order a new one. The reason? The lorry had been impounded by the police with the sofa still inside it.

Right. Broken arn, simply not turning up and now the police have impounded my sofa.

I went to the shop and got my deposit back. The owner did try to argue that I shouldn't get it, but I argued back and he didn't try very hard.

Still, looking round the shop it really doesn't look dodgy at all. Maybe the delivery people were dodgy, or maybe they were being screwed over by someone else, or maybe they're just the unluckiest delivery people in the world, but whatever the reason I'm never going to get that sofa.

Today was the first time that I didn't wince when getting into the Lido. It was just perfect.
