Italian Riot Police @ Roma

Stop talking daft the last one was overcrowding and never came to owt anyway.

Or are you being sarky?

The news made mention of a copper who had died in a previous riot of this nature as if that some how justified the police heavy handedness.

If thats how they act towards fans I'm not surprised the fans in return beat to death some cop. Not that i condone anyone killing another.

Footage has made in onto the net already. In one part it cuts off but it looks to me like some good Samaritan helping the guy who gets pummeled 15 times gets attacked for his troubles too. Its a disgrace.

It looked like the Carabinieri, they are vicious nasty bastards and to be honest I hope atleast a few of them got a serious kicking back.

to silly muppets like yourself who go around calling Liverpool fans murderers, I hope you got a good few rocks on your heads last night, to knock some fucking sense in them.

You might know what Liverpool fans had to go through in 1984 v Roma, in the same stadium and again in 1985.

And understand 1985 a little bit better.

any comments i've made about Heystel have been rather tongue in cheek.

And I know quite well what the Italian police are like.

The Italian police were quite right to act as they did.

By battering Man U's support in to comas, Roma's Ultras had no one left to throw things at innit.

that does seem to be the policy, basically it's far far easier to knock the shit out of the away fans than deal with wing nut ultras. I can only hope someone landed a nice brick on a peelers head.

Revol doesn't "do" live games, so there's not much chance of him being hit by anything more than an accidentally thrown remote control.

Lost in the fog of tear gas was a good game, I thought. Can ManU put a team together to turn it round next week? I fucking hope not

The moaning about the trouble was laughable. ManU fans run at a glass wall like so many bluebottles then get miffed when the 80 or so truncheoned-up caribineri stood right there choose to crack some skulls. Nice one.

Still, I'm sure the Heysel and Hillsbrough songs will get an airing next time the two sides meet, which hopefully won't be in Athens. The prospect of that fills me with dread..

You've got to love Roma, complaining pre-match that Man Utd issuing a warning about the fact that Italian football fans are a bunch of psychopaths didn't show them in a good light.

12 Man Utd fans stabbed last night, and Roma fucking won! They should shut the fucking sport down in Italy, ban them from Europe until they sort themselves out.

The italian filth truly are wankers

Just in bari for the scotland game - people were going over feneces, cutting holes in the fences , wanky Ultras pushing past the polis to get to with no tickets - flares going off all over the place, no segregation in the ground - the filth letting in the local itinterant traders to sell beer & big jaegermisters bottles in the ground to anyone after imposing a ban and confiscating beer from fans outside the ground. end of the game, the stewards and filth all leg it and invade the picth en masse - wankers

fuckin cunts. im sorry, but any other nation on earth would be banned for the way the Italians go on at games and get away with it, and thats not even touching on their conduct on the pitch itslef.

* lets not get into that Heysel / HIllsboro shit again please*

The way the Welsh fans were treated at the San Siro for the 2004 game against Italy was a fucking disgrace.

The police ignored the advice from the UK police and let their scumbag compatriots hurl coins, piss, gob and even puke (!) at the Welsh fans below. If they complained, they got battered.

They got attacked in 2001 too. I was living in Rome at the time and just missed some nasty aggro by minutes. A bunch of them had got battered in a square.

I suppose it helps your case if you ignore the poor sods who got smacked with batons whilst trying to get way. And the ones who had bottles thrown at them. And the ones who were stabbed. Not sure why you think it laughable that they should feel aggrieved.

just like you never done any real politics and so were more like to jam your finger in your DVD drive than experiance the Carabinieri.

And when I watched Larne play, do you think it was in a pub with Sky? Of course there was never any trouble at Larne matches, especially not when the scumfucks Linfield came to town.

Those that ran at the Roma fans knew there truncheons would be drawn - reckon they gave a fuck who got battered?

Saw bottles going both ways. Didn't mention anything about stabbings, which is obviously fucked up.

Nasty stuff....

The 'Prawn Sandwich Brigade' seem to be upping their game though!!

Will the away fans be allowed along to the second leg?

"Real politics"

<chortle>

I really don't know why you bother coming in the football forum because you only make an utter arse of yourself every time. And what the fuck have Larne got to do with anything?

why do the Italians get away with this shit? If English fans did this they'd be a Euro wide outrage and atleast threats of another english wide ban.

I have my own thoughts about what constitutes real politics and have alot of criticisms of the anti capitalist movement but atleast I can say I was involved on the ground whilst you were doing interviews for Newsnight, the sad fact is your politics have never moved past a vague anti corporate/mainstream ethos.

How about you tell me how going to close to every Larne match in my youth doesn't count as doing 'live games'?

Interestingly I probably would have went to more live games in my teens and early twenties if i hadn't been running around like a blue arsed fly over politics. In the past two years were i've been chilling out abit I've had more time to follow football.
