Israelis bomb UN observers

The thing is though, the Israelis seem to be using tactics that could be expected to work better against 'proper' armies than they do against Hezbollah.

For example, smashing up the core systems of the Lebanese state would probably be quite effective in disrupting the communications and supplies of a conventional army, as it was against Saddam's and it's presumably intended to be at least politically effective as a collective punishment against the citizens of Lebanon for tolerating (and indeed voting into government) Hezbollah. In reality it appears to be increasing Hezbollah's support within the Lebanon while apparently having no military impact against Hezbollah.

Hezbollah don't appear to have any critical dependencies on communications with a central HQ as a conventional military might have. They don't have any airfields to hit. Instead they appear to have been organised in a decentralised way with extensive and well hidden local supply dumps. So all the Israelis can do it take out their spite on Lebanese civilians.
Exactly. It's getting them sort of what they want - control of the areas they seek to control - but it ain't going to work long term. However, it is demonstrating quite clearly that in a straightforward military confrontation the IDF is a lot more effective than it's opponents.
Come the day the IDF tries it on against high quality troops, they may well find that they are not the super-duper gods of war they think they are. It's as if Leyton Orient spent years playing against the Red Lion Sunday team, then had a go at Man U. A string of easy victories doesn't mean you are necessarily any good.

Where have you been for the past month ? Oh yeah. Fool.

Oh, hello Moono, Pavlovs dog still barking then?

When you know anything about military operations, feel free to comment.

Until then, keep your moist-eyed blatherings about how great hezbollah are to yourself, eh?

Chainsore, I take advice from those qualified to give it, not common-or-garden cyber-Napoleons with a bad attitude. Go practise your pincer movements.

But the high quality troops belong to countries that have no quarrel with Israel.

But, they are the guilty party.

And Israel are what? Free of culpability?

I know how one-dimensionally you view this conflict, Johnny and how tempting it must be to accept the lie that Hizb'allah is a "terrorist organisation" because the US government says so. But it is such views that perpetuate death and destruction...but then why should the deaths of innocent Lebanese civilians bother you? They're not Zionists after all.

So you claim to know where even the most powerful politicians in the world only suspect, you have proof positive that the cause of the trouble was Hezbollah?

Or is it that you've bought a particular story, and no doubt is allowed to enter your mind that Israel's position is righteous?
