Israel to announce ceasefire in Gaza

1300 people dead, 4000 buildings destroyed, 20,000 severely damaged, and what happens as soon as the ceasefire is declared? Hamas fire some more rockets into Israel.

I wonder if the people who think that Israel is morally correct in its actions would care to comment on the effectiveness of the actions?

So, now they've flattened the place and blown up the smuggling routes which also bring food and medical supplies into Gaza, the cowardly military machine of the Israeli's retreat, following air bombing, tank invasion and infantry invasion. And the global community pays lip service t human rights. Sods.

Oh dear, so Israel can't afford a few anti-rocket systems, can it?

A few token rockets is just a gesture of resistance. Here's a clue. All life is sacred, One Israeli life is by no means worth 100 Arab lives. End of chat.

And the IDF have completely withdrawn from Gaza? I'll bet they haven't and I'm also willing to bet that Mossad have lined up another list of people they'd like to assassinate.

And the IDF have completely withdrawn from Gaza? I'll bet they haven't and I'm also willing to bet that Mossad have lined up another list of people they'd like to assassinate.

Since December 14, 2006, 19 Palestinians who were targets of IDF assassination have been killed in the territories, and 36 Palestinians who were close to those targets were hit in the course of IDF operations, all of them in the Gaza Strip.

A Haaretz Magazine investigation reveals for the first time operational discussions in which the fate of wanted men and innocent people was decided, in apparent disregard of the High Court decision. Thus it was revealed that the IDF approved assassination plans in the West Bank even when it would probably have been possible to arrest the wanted men - in contradiction to the State's statement to the High Court - and that in cold military terminology the most senior IDF echelons approve, in advance and in writing, the harming of innocent Palestinians during the course of assassination operations. Moreover, it turns out that the assassination of a target the defense establishment called part of a "ticking infrastructure" was postponed, because it had been scheduled to take place during the visit of a senior U.S. official.

Leading legal experts who were asked to react to the documents say that the IDF is operating in contradiction to a High Court ruling. "Morality is a very difficult issue," Prof. Mordechai Kremnitzer of Hebrew Univeristy said. "The thought that there are people who sit behind a desk and determine that someone is fated to die is a frightening thought."

Just watching Chanel 4 news. It is truly heartbreaking to see what the Israelis have done.
Yea. Watching that kid who had already been injured, sought shelter in that school only to receive phosphor burns from another attack. During that same attack, an artillery (or tank) shell blasted through one of the balcony's, killing 2 kids and blowing the legs of a third party (their cousin!). :/

It needs to be documented for all those thick fucks that refuse to acknowledge or lead extraordinarily busy lifestyles to pay attention to what is really going on out there.

Good luck to another fake peace process.

Israel should not make the cessation of weapons smuggling a condition for a cease fire, or for indirect relations with Hamas. I am sorry to see that Meretz USA, which came out with a fine statement otherwise, has called for “the verifiable termination of weapons smuggling into the Gaza Strip” as a condition for a cease-fire. I have no problem with that, provides that it calls for an arms embargo on Israel as well. Jews smuggled weapons to Palestine before there was a Jewish state, and the idea that Gaza and the West Bank should be left at the mercy of Israel, or NATO, or whatever, is immoral as well as stupid – immoral, because it says that one side has a right to self-defence and the other does not, stupid because it reinforces the Israeli narrative that the Palestinians are the aggressors, which plays into feelings of Palestinian resentment, and which encourages the extremists.

/\/\/\/\/\ Spot on.

Stopping arms supplies is like attempting to put a band-aid on a severed arm. The causes of violence must be addressed
