The EDL don't represent the views of white people either, yet they manage to attract fairly large counter demonstrations to counter their "uber-out-there-fringe fantasies"...I will be countering the demo by attending my nephew's Halloween party.
Other people will be countering the demo by going about their business, seeing their families, attending their places of worship, amsuing themselves, shopping, etc etc thus demonstrating their total lack of interest in Anjem Choudary and his increasingly pathetic attempts to garner attention for his uber-out-there-fringe fantasies.
It is about as pointless to demonstrate against him as it is to demonstrate against the Sinner or Winner evangelical loony as unrepresentative of Christians/white people/whatever.
This demonstration will play right into the hands of the EDL/BNP. I think the media will ham this protest up and give it a lot of, if disproportionate, attention. I think the media and the public will also compare the two equally abhorrent demonstrations that day and ask why one was acceptable enough to escape any protests from the left and one wasn't...Stop playing into the extremists' hands, on both sides.
EDL are already reading this board, aren't they, durruti.

Are you making a little allegation here?
durutti why are you posting up information about a totally irrelevant group and a totally irrelevant group? For what reasons?
Should I start posting up announcements from the Monster Raving Loony Party and Zebras against Zog?
How long before Scotland joins the EURO, do you think?

yeah, MI5 are only aware of people who are a proper threat to the country, like Harold Wilson
So they are definitely not encouraging anyone to engage in any kind of terrorist activity? One man with a few guns might be known to MI5 and a threat.
That doesn't mean he is of significance to wider society. The same with this bunch. No-one takes them seriously.
Gotta love how Al-Muhajiroun are "irrelevant" one minute then the next they're known to Mi5!
So what are they? Irrelevant or a threat to this country? Can't be both, can they?
after dinner please?I could write you an essay on the long, long history between M15 and al-Muhajiroun but right now I have dinner to cook.
would like to know as so many people talk about this and i don't know ..that troll is on ignoreAre you making a little allegation here?

Haven't got a clue but if they are that is something that needs to be dealt with. Doesn't mean they have any significance in wider society.

pointless? lol .. it's all over the papers .. 1000 nazis or naive kids or whoever march against choudary in manchester and newsnight last night gave it a good 15 mins .. if you think all this is irrelevent i think you are very wrong .. it is very dangerous from both EDL and from I4UK .. besides whats it to you? why does it offend you?Just answer the question. Why are you posting this pointless stuff up?
In what way do you consider the EDL a concern? They don't represent anyone according to most people here and they've no chance of taking over the country (I don't even think gaining political power is even an aim of theirs, unlike the BNP, for example)EDL are a lot more of a concern than Al Muj/I4UK as al-Muj are now.

What do you think should be done about it?

The only concern I can think of is the damage they might do to community relations, but then if that is the concern then there's no way anyone could argue that al-Muhajiroun don't pose exactly the same threat (they are, after all, the flip sides of the same coin)
