I will be countering the demo by attending my nephew's Halloween party.
Other people will be countering the demo by going about their business, seeing their families, attending their places of worship, amsuing themselves, shopping, etc etc thus demonstrating their total lack of interest in Anjem Choudary and his increasingly pathetic attempts to garner attention for his uber-out-there-fringe fantasies.
It is about as pointless to demonstrate against him as it is to demonstrate against the Sinner or Winner evangelical loony as unrepresentative of Christians/white people/whatever.
Stop playing into the extremists' hands, on both sides.

The EDL don't represent the views of white people either, yet they manage to attract fairly large counter demonstrations to counter their "uber-out-there-fringe fantasies"...
This demonstration will play right into the hands of the EDL/BNP. I think the media will ham this protest up and give it a lot of, if disproportionate, attention. I think the media and the public will also compare the two equally abhorrent demonstrations that day and ask why one was acceptable enough to escape any protests from the left and one wasn't...
This demo will be damaging to the left, and damaging to community relations in this country, there are ways of limiting both of these outcomes...

It all sounds eminently ignorable. I suppose you could probably get some amusing photos of them in Trafalgar square, "gather(ing) even more support from tourists and members of the public".

EDL are a lot more of a concern than Al Muj/I4UK as al-Muj are now.
They haven't been completely infiltrated and busted open for starters. In fact, I don't think they have been infiltrated at all much, apart from the old hoolie/far right intel, which is mostly local police-based.
Having said that it should be much easier to crack them, as undercover officers are more likely to be white.
So give it six months.

In what way do you consider the EDL a concern? They don't represent anyone according to most people here and they've no chance of taking over the country (I don't even think gaining political power is even an aim of theirs, unlike the BNP, for example)
The only concern I can think of is the damage they might do to community relations, but then if that is the concern then there's no way anyone could argue that al-Muhajiroun don't pose exactly the same threat (they are, after all, the flip sides of the same coin)

It doesn't offend me but what are you hoping to achieve by publicising this demo on U75? What do you think should be done about it?
