Is this photo photoshopped?

I say yes. Spymaster says no. I contend that even with the water being in front of the plane, you'd have to bend light to get it to reflect the writing on the top of the plane.

What do you think?

Yes it has been photoshopped.

Why? because the image on the water should not be a mirror image of what is above it, a view of the plane from the vantage point of the reflection (i.e. down) would show a lot more of the underside of things like wings and things.

If you look at the trailing edge of the wing where it covers up the windows, you'll see that it covers them in slightly different amounts in the real and reflected planes. therefore not photoshopped.

If you're far enough away from an object reflected in a flat plane, then the difference in viewing angle is negligible - think about the ratio of eye elevation to target distance.

The puddle stops some way from the plane

well no doubt the cropping, colour balance etc was done in photoshop, but I will put my mod badge on the line and say that plane really is reflected in surface water.

Discovering that it has been photoshopped doesn't necessarily mean the reflection isn't real, there might have been a baggage handler in the shot that has been edited out.

I think the reflection is real

More or less what I was going to say.

I've no idea whether it's photoshopped, but the reflection isn't the evidence.

Also, look at the tip of the V in Virgin - visible below the wingtip in the real plane, hidden by the wingtip in the reflection.
Likewise the top edge of the rear hatch.

Yep. There are a few subtle differences in the perspective.

I'll put Crispy's mod badge on it too.

Fran thinks that the words 'Virgin Atlantic' shouldn't be reflected because they're on the top of the fuselage. I maintain that because the puddle is some way in front of the aircraft, the angle of reflection is fine. Whilst other elements may have been Photoshopped, the reflection of the airline's name is not out of place.

a lot of people decide to instruct their cameras to use the bloatware provided by Adobe for use with their cameras because it is heavily suggested that they do so.

not because cameras "use" Adobe... quite the opposite.:p

Where's the plane? Where's the water?
