Question... since when was 'muslim' a race? I thought it was a religion, with followers from many backgrounds?
*headdesk*
not this one again
Meat doesn't change because one holy man or another has said some words over it. It hasn't become something else-- it's still the same meat.
Jeez...![]()
To you perhaps... to someone with an active belief system that it conflicts with, it's not.
So when you're in a restaurant do you go into the kitchen and quiz the chef about the meat?To you perhaps... to someone with an active belief system that it conflicts with, it's not.
And when did Jews, Muslims and Christians stop praying to the same God anyway?

The God of Islam - Allah - is not the same God of the Christian faith or Judaism.
You started a thread going on about it, not me.Why is a simple choice of mine such a big issue?

You haven't studied theology have you ajdown? I haven't but I did R.E. at school. Would it surprise you to know that even the angels in Islam and Christianity eg Gabriel are the same?

It might be commonly thought that 'all roads lead to god so follow whichever one makes you happy' but the reality is very, very different.
But this thread isn't the place for this discussion ... I believe there's a 'religion and philosophy' forum somewhere here, where people more educated than I will be able to discuss the issue.
Oh get over yourself. It's the same God. Islamic dietary law is very similar to Jewish dietary law, as laid out in Leviticus, you know, that chapter of the Old Testament that you use to justify your prejudice against gay people. So similar in fact that Muslims can, and many often do, eat Kosher; Jews cannot eat Halal because of additional restrictions in the dietary laws.I don't have a problem with muslims, I'm just a bit concerned about eating meat that has been dedicated to another god in the process of killing.
Most meat would, presumably, have a halal label on it if it had been killed that way?
But you're right, I wanted a nice piece of pork. Sainsburys obliged.
We are trying to educate you. You won't last long in this town if you don't wise up.
Clearly you haven't, because Islam started around 600 years after Christianity.
Both religions are not the same. Period.
Ah a wriggle! That's not what you said first and you are misrepresenting me now. Clearly you have lost the argument by a piss-poor attempt at sophistry and you have failed abysmally!
how does islam starting after christianity proove that their god isn't the same?
Indeed. Jesus is a prophet in Islam, as is (King) David. You haven't studied theology have you ajdown? I haven't but I did R.E. at school. Would it surprise you to know that even the angels in Islam and Christianity eg Gabriel are the same?

How can a shared history be plagiarism?Ever heard of plagiarism?

If you really want to discuss this, find a local church running an Alpha course. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help you understand with far more patience than I have right now.
