as i understood they walked out with the other dockers, and respected any picket lines there were, declined to join the march and leafletted to argue rightly against powell as a rich tory ..
Fair dos.

I wonder what they'd do nowadays...

Have you lost the ability to read? I said 'you hide your opposition to imigration controls' - that is, I fully recognise that you oppose them, but you do so very quietly, which is hardly 'complte and utter honesty', it is in fact treating working-class people like fools you hope to almost hoodwink.

sorry.. i am a fool.. very sorry .. abject grovelling apology .. on my knees etc etc .. was on my way out of cafe and .. no excuse :(

but if i hope you do accept my apology i do not think that real point is fair .. my point has always been that we have to get the OTHER stuff out there first .. otherwise people will not listen to us .. is this dishonest? .. no .. maybe slightly wavy round the edges .. but there are NO lies in there .. er can i say sorry again ?

as to muslims & the SWP, maybe you have heard individuals saying that, or maybe not, however it is easilly provable that they have never made any such utterance in their journals etc, to say it is 'absolutely clear' is a nonsense. If it was so, you would be able to provide some evidence for it. But you havent done so, & I have to assume that that is because you cant do so. Not one iota of actual evidence.

but it is sadly true but i can not provide written eveidence .. apart from the Respect policy ( posted above) which would i assume be SW generated

and several bits and peices which you will discount below .. look mate i live around here .. i have heard SWs saying this .. and to be honest do you really belive after GG said his piece that they rubbished it on the street????? i don't think so ..

" ..Galloway’s response was that he was against all drugs, “unlike the Liberal Democrats”, and that the British navy should be withdrawn from the Persian Gulf to patrol British waters, as part of a “war on drugs”, not a “war on Muslims, a war on Arabs”.

Johann Hari The Independent (London)
April 21, 2005 concerning gg

" he has been telling the most alienated Muslim men in Britain that Tony Blair is "waging a war on Muslims ... at home and abroad". He is nudging towards a kind of inverse Powellism that tells the Muslim community it is under siege from a brutal terrorist state that will stop at nothing. Rivers of blood, he implies, are only months away"

"Mr Blair should know when you wage war on Muslims abroad you wage war on Muslims at home" GG

" Howard’s war on Muslims is part of a class war against all of us. The sooner we realise this the sooner we can win – and put Howard in a cell where he does belong.

WHAT WE THINK
The pope’s racist rant about Islam
September 22, 2006 | Page 3

POPE BENEDICT XVI angered Muslims around the world when he used a recent address at the University of Regensburg to publicly attack Islam. The pope quoted 14th-century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel II Paleologus: “Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.”

Coming amid George W. Bush’s self-described “crusade” against terrorism, the U.S. occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, and escalating threats of a war on Iran, the pope clearly took sides in the war on Muslims.

I'm not a member or supporter of the SWP or RESPECT and as I've stated in the past I've nothing against criticising the dogmatism of the former or the opportunism of the latter.

But at least make the criticism intelligent. Your OP and bogus poll imply that the SWP "line" on the war on terror is that it is a war against Islam. As this appears in none of the SWP literature, which argues this is war in persuit of imperialist interests, your argument falls down.

Now you shift the goal posts saying that some SWPers are saying this in the streets to Muslims. Thats just hearsay and of no value at all. Its like me saying I've heard members of "Hackney Independent" pushing an anti-immigration massage to try and win votes and then starting a thread entitled "Is the HIs saying that immigration is the main problem afffecting working class Britains today their worst lie?".

I doubt you'd be too impressed with that.

fair point but actually this is what i wanted out of the thread .. of course the SW do not put this on their front page .. but they have used it in TH on the streets .. do you think they rubbished GG when he twice publically said it??? before an election????

re HI yes i appreciate what you are saying but i can say we rarely talk about immigration on the doorstep .. more boring stuff i am afraid ..usually housing .. though as you know i do think the use of immigration is a key weapon for the neo libs currently ..

.. the point here though is we do have the Respect/GG evidence and anecdotal evidence re SW recycling this ..

and er you haveh't heard anyone from HI saying about immigration being etc etc have you.. which is also the point ;)

i wouldn't put it like that mate .. neo liberalism is the main thing affecting w/c people .. but yes immigration is key to that assault ..

:D

apology sufficiently abject dur.

re the other stuff, I agree to an extent re the SWP no expressly rejecting the GG quotes, but that is still prett ydifferent to them actualkly saying it (I cant get your link to work so dont know exactly where that bit came from)

It wopuld be like, rather than Joes example, a thread 'Hackney Independent support the Tories' - on the basis that one of your sponsored candidates signed a tory's nomination papers.

(hopes I remebered that right...)
