She's done the right thing in employing Clifford because he knows his shit and has power over news editors in terms of access to slebs etc; in terms of accepting payment for the story I'm not so sure - I can see why she'd do it, and personally I couldn't give two hoots but I can see why she might be deemed to be accepting tainted coin...

Max Clifford can't be very good at what he does if he becomes part of the story as he invariably does. Surely his role should be to stay out of the spotlight, quietly pulling strings.

It's not like there aren't other PRs who could do exactly that so god knows why she'd choose him. Seems somewhat ill-advised.

I was surprised at the involvement of Max Clifford and a little disappointed but I don't feel the need to crticise her. She is a victim of police violence.

One thing that does strike me is that the assault is the kind of thing that is seen frequently on demonstrations. The BBC would not have taken the footage seriously were it not for the Tomlinson footage. The police have been getting away with such blatant violence for far too long. It is a tragedy that it has taken a death to focus attention on this issue.

The families of the 2,600 (?) people who have died in police custody over the last few decades may start to have hope that finally justice may be on the horizon (not a single copper has been charged). As for the IPCC that is a Home Office funded body that usually allows complaints to be investigated by the police themselves. The 'Independence' is in the title only.

We should remember the rigorousness of a defence case required in order to avoid conviction of a police officer - in the case of Harry Stanly it was effectively accepted that a police marksman justifiably feared that a chair leg might have been loaded and it was therefore quite acceptable to shoot him in the back of the head as he walked up his garden path (in case he were to turn round, raised the chair leg and er fire it)

The opposite is true - he's taken on a shed load of causes that you'd never know about and likely never will. The fact the media gets into a froth over one of the people he's representing, ie Jade Goody, isn't his problem it's him doing his job.
