That's why I'd never sell my story - some papers are so desperate to smear anyone in that position. You have to prove them wrong, not join in and have them saying 'we were right about those scumbag protestors.'

So she'll get her fifty grand but the cause she supposedly was fighting for will not be taken so seriously as a result. I think as a protestor you have a responsibility when you fight for your cause. Making money out of it just makes you as bad as the Glenda Slagg journalists that'll be writing about you.

Do you care about money and yourself or do you care about police brutality and about other people getting hurt? Which is it?

I think you're being waaaaaaay too judgemental tbh.

I've known, or heard of, people who've sued the police for wrongful arrest and whatever after they've been arrested amid protests.

Some of those people are on benefits or very low incomes, precisely because they refuse to 'sell out' on a daily basis, joining the rest of the 9-5 rat racers, and they do a heck of a lot of unpaid activism and are involved in organising and participating in protests and so on.

Yes, sometimes I think such people might treat any monies they come into as a bit of a windfall, it's the kind of money that they don't have access to in their working lives, because they're so busy not 'selling out' on a daily basis, and I don't begrudge people that, at all. Others might use any such money as subsistence or to fund future projects.

I don't know of anyone who's the kind of person to go and protest about capitalism who at the first sight of a bit of money would flip their morals and personal belief system and rush off to the shops to buy lots of designer labels

i'm surprised that there is any criticism of this woman whatsoever....

What do you expect, we know what some of those involved are about here it is proven, becuase some of us stick to whome we are, what we stand for aint going to be for others, welcome to the world of cimate change polatics.. You know what one is saying here, where is Chris Knight when the media need to slag of anarchism, ha they have this person an uteer disgrace, enough said people know my feelings on the climate change protesters, to be frank i expect nothing less of them..

Well the Daily Vile has already started the subtle smearing today with the editorial stating: Nicky Fisher, who has previously faced allegations of shop lifting...
Exactly my point. It may have come from the Met it may not, but the desire to mitigate the damage is certain.

*wonders if the story will be accompanied by photos of skimpy-clad protest tottie* - I'm going to wait until the story is published to see in what light it's portrayed.

You can be a socialist and like nice clothes y'know!

What is she supposed to be "selling out"?

If I had the chance to make an easy £50K, I would. Wouldn't you?

Christ from you, well we can all be bought then? look no matter the offer it would be fuck off, idd talk to them of course, they would lie what do we expect there The Middle Class, just the same as those protesting, they feed of each other, would i take the 50k and give it to some resistance movement, well idd have to think about it, but that would be a compermise to be frank, i would never compermise my anarchism, what i stand for i sooner live in poverty than fuck over my own class, but then she aint fucking over her own class is she, as said what you come to expect from this lot..

"Hello would you like £50K for doing something you want to do anyway?"

(a) yes
(b) no

It's not hard. Give it to charity, burn it in the street, whatever you like.

of course there's no indication that she is getting 50K anyway

of course not, but NO not even to give it away, burn it, whatever i like as said to much of a compermise, i would never fuck over my class..

Fuck over your own class by taking money off someone else?

It's not magic, you know, money. There's no spiritual pollution involved.

you're weird

It's fairly normal to seek PR advice/protection if you suddenly find yourself thrust into the national media spotlight.

I agree with what appears, on this thread and another, to be the prevailing mood - nothing prepares you for being in the centre of a shitstorm. She didn't deserve to get whacked and didn't ask to be famous - she'll need help.

A bet though some of you who are taking this view were lining up to vilify the McCanns last year for 'playing the meeja'.

The Daily Mail doesn't have a monopoly on deciding on who is a deserving victim, or who to defame.

Of course not. It could be very much like the "Look at the size of the house that this supposed socialist/trades unionist/communist lives in" type reporting.

You seem to be making a lot of assumptions about her class. According to the Standard (yes, yes, I know ) she's lived in a basement flat for 10 years and works in an animal sanctuary. I've no idea whether she's a middle class downshifter or whether she's working class, but most of all I don't really care. She attended a vigil for Ian tomlinson and had the guts to stand up to a violent copper twice her size.

Have to say I'm not wild about Max Clifford, specifically, being involved but she's more deserving of any money than the banker who fucked us all over and is now on 700k for life. I'll also suspend judgement till I hear what she does with (any) money she might get. Perhaps you should too.

There was nothing on the Star's site, but I did discover that Chantelle thinks a rollercoaster ride risks making her boobs explode. Lucky they stopped it in time then, otherwise we'd have been on a "Tit Terorist Terrifies Pleasure Beach" headline. :(

:)

No. Don't think they've updated yet. Today's front page is the same as yesterday's at the moment.

I think you have two people using your login to be honest. One is you, a incoherent muddled thinker, the other one is your mate (I'm certain you only have one) who can spell and string a logical string of thoughts together....

come you get the fucking context here, stop the attack upon myself so I can not spell, it seems to be a muddled thinker?

you are aware of myself where I stand, we not agree, but do you agree with this?, I quite frankly do not, neither will I hold my thoughts, so she stood up to the police got a beating for doing so, welcome to the world of the working class, we do not all goto Max Clifford, make some cash etc..

I have taken the police to court not for the cash, but for the politics of the action and I won with an offer of cash I simply said no thanks, the point was to prove there actions was wrong, now if this was the aim all well and good, if she was going to start say something like larc as I understand this is where the cash come from for this space all well and good, but we shall watch ive no doubt neither will happen.

The IPCC isn't an arbiter of justice. It carries out white washes. This woman has done more to keep the police brutality in the headlines than most protestors. I don't have to agree with her decision to use Max Clifford to respect her willingness to go public. IF she has made a few quid out of it fair play to her.

I look forward to their next story about "Neil and Christine Hamilton - who have previously faced allegations of rape and sexual assault".
