It's called the Country Show (the slogan used to be, 'when the country comes to the town' but I don't think they've used it for years). There was only one year it wasn't on but Lambeth won't be making that mistake again....

Why do I get a mental image of a dignified-looking middle-aged lady holding a cosh and smacking it menacingly into the palm of her free hand?

The show organisers are sending out booking forms for the 21st/22nd July.

If that's true (is it?? ), my out of town guests can visit on the Saturday, they're off to the cricket at Lords on the Sunday, but guess where I'll be. Clue : CHUCKLEHEAD!! :D

Long enough to go travel and buy an hour of your mother's services, anyway. :)

Missed this last time ...

Only managed to defrag my PC today, it was getting ever more snail like over at least the past week.

Not much of an excuse, and I am very cponscious of the well overdue need for my usual 'Festival Season 2007 -- some dates and details' thread.

In the meantime, can anyone confirm whether Lambeth Country Fair will be on 14/15 July, or 21/22 July?

That's the date I have from my Lido 70th birthday committee notes - as the working group is planning to have an exhibition at the country show and a poetry event at the show (which should be really great and I hope lots of people take a gander!). If it turns out to not be that date it won't just be your diary that is inconvenienced - there'll be a large number of marquees with nowhere to set them up!! :)

Thanks

Who are you trying to confuse:confused ... 21st/22nd July.

Thanks Lang Rabbie. I was busy organising our Urban Art event for the wrong weekend until I saw your message!

I have spoken to the organisers and the way they work out the date is by making it the third weekend of July. The 1st of July is a Sunday and therefore does not count as a full weekend, hence the seemingly week later dates.

The date has been so random that I'd begun to assume it was a moveable feast for which your require a Table of Computus to calculate the date from the Epact and Golden Day.
