Is support for EDL/BNP up or down after the recent demos

IS public support for edl/bnp positions and uaf/swp positions up or down?

I haven't at hand the latest figures on dog ownership amongst regular church attenders but I do know several asian youth/young men who own dogs and regularly parade them round the park and streets.

I'll read what I want to read you imbecile.

Considering that Muhammad didn't like dogs and most practicing Muslims do not have dogs as pets, your claim that 'Muslims turned up with dogs' is up there with the tabloid journalism of the Daily Mail.

The reports I read described it was the local Muslims that turned up with dogs. Seems more plausible than the EDL types, why would you bring your dog if your day would involve travelling to another city and sitting in the pub for half of it?

Why would all of the Muslim youth be practising muslims anyway?

The ill communication on the subject continues.........

Bizarrely ignorant. Arrests of several over a dog-fighting ring in Birmingham recently, with the guilty from the Muslim community - this has a bit of background:
Young men openly parade their illegal pit bull terriers saying how police cannot tell the difference - while the police with stretched resources can only play a limited role in tackling the problem.

Meanwhile there is evidence that young British Asians are having an impact on dog fighting back in Pakistan.

Basharat Najiba, a youth worker in Birmingham, said that a sizeable number of spectators make the trip from the UK with some even owning the fighting dogs and paying money to locals to look after them.

He said: "I think British Asians are big players because of the financial attachments that they can bring from here."

...

Dog fighting is part of life in rural Punjab and Kashmir and there are fears that its acceptability could be increasing among a new generation of young Asians in the UK aware of fathers, uncles and cousins attending dog fights in Pakistan.
...
And while the majority of the community find the fights abhorrent, there is among others, as one Asian youth worker explained, certain apathy.

"People say 'the dog wants to fight' and I don't believe that at all because it's the human being that's taking the dog to fight. They haven't got a choice about being in that ring," he said.

Dog-fighting's big in a lot of central asia - one of the things the Taliban banned in Afghanistan too, but never stopped it, e.g.:
A suspected suicide blast killed 53 people and injured 40 others in southern Afghan city of Kandahar, capital of troubled Kandahar province, on Sunday, a police official on the spot said.

The blast occurred Sunday morning at a dog fighting competition where several hundred of people were gathering.

Blimey are the SWP telling their members to convert to Islam?
How things have changed over the years for the SWP, they seemed to have found religion.

I remember a time MC5 when socialists were opposed to all religions.
They said religions are there to control the masses and keep the ruling elite in power. Be a good Christian/Muslim and do what you are told or you go to hell sort of thing. Yes MC5 Communists/socialists used to say religions are man made bullshit including the SWP at one time.

Before you give religious lessons regarding Muhammad, I would read up on him.

I voted that support for the edl and bnp would both be up. But i dont think by much though. In some ways i am more worried about what it says about the left in the uk.
The economic crisis has opened up opportunities for the left that seldom come its way. They have spectacularly missed the opportunity. The supposed racism of the edl and whats laughably called islamaphobia is by and large not relevant.
People losing their jobs and homes and getting pay cuts are not really helped by the pantomine horses of whatevers in fashion this week racing round the same old track.
The middle class lefts ongoing fascination with racism always seems to concentrate on those with the least power. Why is that ?

Often I think that it's an acceptable extension of middle-class snobbery, a chance to attack the uneducated proles guilt free.

At my university I don't think that I have ever heard a leftist student discuss economics. I've heard plenty about Palestine, asylum seekers and the BNP but nothing about unemployment, class inequality or public services.

It doesn't, that's true, it was to do with you writing:

What a claim made by another poster that 'Muslims turned up with dogs' has to do with reports of 'asian gangs, with fighting dogs' escapes me. It's very unusual to see a Muslim with a dog.

I didn't say 'all Muslim youth would be practising muslims' and I was referring to events in Birmingham and before that Luton.

Well, The 39th Step has given an accurate assessment of your statement, but let's pit your obvious expertise against the ignoramuses at the BBC Asian Network, who had this to say on the subject in 2008:
Asian lads openly bragging about watching and being involved in illegal dog fights .In this Asian Network Report we look into the increasingly popular trend for some British Asian men to own big fierce dogs and look at the growing phenomenon of dog fighting in the Asian community.
My bold.

Of course, you could just get out your house occasionally.

Not much in the way of stats on pets and the religion of their owners, but I chance a guess that a religion with Mohammed writing about avoiding dog saliva would have an effect on ownership?

I'm sure, but we're talking about the sort of lads who turn out for a ruck in the centre of Birmingham, and I'll stick my neck out and say that's likely to include a disproportionate number of the sort who like to keep big dogs.

Oh, how I laughed.

I was born in an area with a large Asian community and Muslim dog ownership wasn't mentioned in the brief report you linked to, so massive fail so far.

But spoken about by the several Muslim young men in the radio programme linked off that page, so you could try the evidence of your ears what with your eyes apparently having let you down so far.

Don't be smart, when you're obviously not. My eyes didn't see the word Muslim because it ain't there. Now you expect me to listen to a radio programme 'linked off that page', whilst I note failing to provide me a report or photo of when 'Muslims turned up with dogs' at any of these demo's?

just got in, saw the edl demo earlier

20 shouty blokes with no clear agenda, a fucking joke

really, nothing to see here at all, if they were ever anything at all then they're over
