Is Obama a 'dead man walking'?

*sharp intake of breath*

That's a SPOLIER and I'm telling a mod.

You also forgot:

Useless vacillating twat, who's not a patch on his older brother.

Surely its too big a target for the extreme racist right to miss out on. Take him out and race riots will erupt throughout the USA which would put back race relations in the USA for decades which is exactly want they want I should think.

Thoughts on this anyone?
The political and economic clout of the US is starting to wane worldwide. The above scenario would just bring it about faster....

Living in the most racially segregated major city in N. America I see how much hatred and distrust there is among blacks and whites in the US. :)

Seems strange that you had to point out that someone on the campaign trail is a power-hungry politico: it comes with the job, no?

You'd think it would be obvious, but a lot of airtime is being devoted to Obama's 'blackness'. My point is that the real truth is, he's just another washington politico who happens to have dark skin.

Everyone probably heard this by now, but in a interview Dennis Haysbert says he's convinced that his portrayal
of David Palmer paved the way for Barack Obama to make a bid for the presidency.

Haysbert says: said:
"As far as the public is concerned, it did open up their minds and their hearts a little bit to the notion that if the right man came along...a black man could be president of the United States.

People on the street would ask me to run for office when I went to promote [24]... It doesn't surprise me that Barack would be met with open arms and minds."

The weird thing is, its probably true!

Who else has been a black president? Morgan Freeman, Chris Rock...

i seem to remember that when Bush 2 was about to stand, all the polls had Colin Powell as the peoples favourite. It really looked like he would stand -and win.

However, the story goes, his wife insisted that he didnt, sighting that he would get shot in a flash. Colin agreed. bush got in.

Cant remember how i know this, so not sure of its validity...

I remember the story, apparently Mrs Powell had always been anti him standing and then the assasination Yitzhak Rabin convinced her he shouldnt.

Parallels between the Obama campaign and the final 2 seasons of the West Wing are not a coincidence apparently.

SlateV.com created a video comparing the similarities between Barack Obama and Jimmy Smits' character, Matt Santos. A writer for the show, Eli Attie, admits Smits character was directly shaped by Obama. The writer even met with one of Obama's political consultants, who was working on his campaign for Senate at the time.

In the show, a Congressman of color runs for the Democratic nomination and the primary race is so close it leads to a brokered convention. Smits opponent is better-known, funded and experienced. Freaky!

P.S. -- Santos won the nomination and went on to win the presidential election.

Link to their video report here- its only 2/3 mins long. There is an annoying 5 secadvert on before the report starts.

It's near enough impossible to assassinate the president of the US. You think no-one's wanted to kill Bush? You couldn't get anywhere near the president with a weapon. And, still, he's completely protected: by guards, bullet-proof glass, etc...

And, by the way, Obama is just what the US needs: a liberal, democratic face to sell rampant militarism. He's just about the most right-wing democrat in modern history.
